Among many big-budget multi-starrer movies running in theatres, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, a mid-budget, women-centric superhero film, has taken over the cinemas. Produced by Mollywood superstar, Dulquer Salmaan and starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, this Malayalam-language film is being praised as one of the best superhero films in India. Amid these praises, fans are already demanding to see the superhero film expanded into a cinematic universe. Here’s everything you need to know about Lokah Chapter 2.

Lokah Chapter 1‘s post-credit scene with Tovino Thomas hints towards a Chapter 2

With Lokah Chapter 1 gaining immense popularity, the makers are now expanding into the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe. Notably, the post-credit scene featuring Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan provides strong hints towards a sequel. Tovino first appears as a goblin-like being called ‘Chathan’ that helps the protagonist, ‘Neeli’ and her friends. After that, in the post-credit scene, an unknown character asks ‘Chathan’ about an archaeological expedition that failed and shows the goblin a photo from the unsuccessful mission as proof. The photo depicts ‘Chathan’; however, he says that it could be him or one of his 389 siblings, who resemble him.

Hence, this not only indicates that Tovino Thomas as ‘Chathan’ will be a central figure in Lokah Chapter 2, but it also gives hints that there might be a storyline similar to Marvel’s Lokiverse. Just as there are thousands of variants of ‘Loki’ in the MCU, the viewers might get to see a similar concept being explored in Lokah Chapter 2.

What about Tovino Thomas’ ‘Minnal Muruli’?

Before the Malayalam film industry presented superhero movie lovers with Lokah Chapter 1 in 2025, it had already produced one of the best superhero films of the country in 2021, called Minnal Muruli. Tovino Thomas played the titular character in the film. Director of the 2021, Basil Joseph has revealed his plans to bring out a sequel to Minnal Muruli and make a cinematic universe. Hence, Tovino Thomas is part of two superhero universes, one as ‘Minnal Muruli’ and another as ‘Chathan’. Tovino Thomas has yet to comment on being a key figure in both projects.

    More about Lokah Chapter 1

Blending Malayalam folk tales with modern-day storytelling, the story of the first instalment revolves around Kalyani Priyadarshan‘s character, ‘Chandra’. Called from Sweden to Bangalore, she uncovers mystical powers as a ‘Yakshi’. Amid trying to come to terms with her unexplainable powers, ‘Chandra’ must also uncover some dark underworld secrets involving corruption and organ trafficking. Apart from Kalyani, the film also stars Naslen and Arun Kurian, with cameos by Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, among many others. Mollywood’s veteran superstar, Mammootty, also lends his voice to the mysterious character of ‘Moothon’.
