In recent years, viewers have wanted to share their favourite scenes from a show with their friends and family. Though streaming apps have always imposed restrictions. Netflix has introduced a feature that makes it much easier for viewers to share the exact moment they want their close ones to see.

Netflix has brought an update to the Moments feature, first introduced in October 2024. Now, users can select the starting and ending points of any scene to create a clip. This clip will be saved in the user’s My Netflix section.

A user can then share the saved clip with their close ones. This update gives more flexibility and freedom while sharing a scene. Previously, Netflix gave no scope to change the duration of a scene while sharing. Thus, viewers can even share small clips online.

The Clip feature will be rolled out with the release of Wednesday Season 2 Part 2, on Android and iOS devices.

    How to use Netflix Moments

To use the Moments feature, a user first needs to click on the Clip icon on the watching screen. This will open the clip menu, allowing the user to select the starting and ending points for the video. A preview of the selected scene will be available before saving.

After the preview, a user can save the clip and get the option to share the message through various social media platforms. Even if one chooses not to share the video instantly, it will be available to view in My Netflix.

This feature is available only on Netflix’s Android and iOS apps.

Streaming platforms like Netflix understand the importance of virality when it comes to scenes from shows on social media. While apps have always stopped users from taking screenshots, sharing certain clips can boost a show’s popularity.

The show, Wednesday went viral when the first season was released in November 2022 after a clip of the main character, Wednesday Addams’ dance went viral on platforms like Instagram. Netflix likely aims to make its shows more viral by giving users the ability to share any time frames from a show instead of preselected scenes.
