Kate Middleton knows how to set a trend in motion.
On Thursday, the Princess of Wales debuted a new blond hairdo at the Natural History Museum in London, and a royal hairstylist predicts the color will be everywhere in the coming months.
Joined by her husband, Prince William, Middleton wore her highlighted tresses in an off-center part with voluminous curls.
Neville Tucker, the owner of Neville’s hair salon in Mayville, which was once one of Queen Elizabeth’s favorite places to get her hair done, told Vanity Fair the princess’ new color is likely to spark a trend.
“Kate’s gone for a strong look that is really noticeably different to how we are used to seeing her,” he said to the outlet.
“She has been playing with blonde tones for a while, but last year she was the darkest she had been in a while. It makes the change quite dramatic, I would say this is the blondest we have seen her. She looks as though she’s had a full set of highlights.”
Before this blond shade, the hair guru says the trend was brunette, a color Middleton championed, in her opinion.
“It was seen as more fashionable, but with Kate going blonder, it’s likely to spark a trend where more people are going to be asking for blonde or honey-toned highlights,” Tucker explained.
For her public appearance on Thursday, the princess was clad in a dark gray Ralph Lauren blazer, a white WNU button-up ($190), black trousers and brown suede loafers from Pretty Ballerinas.
Middleton was last spotted at Wimbledon 2025 in July with her signature chestnut-brown hair.
We’re loving this new beauty era for her.
