Mohitt Maalik, known for his compelling screen presence and layered performances, has confirmed his addition to the ensemble cast of Mirzapur: The Film, marking one of the most significant moments in his career so far. The film, a cinematic extension of the hugely popular crime drama series Mirzapur, is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated releases in Indian cinema.
Mohitt Maalik talks about joining Mirzapur: The Film as makers confirm power-packed ensemble cast
Speaking about the opportunity, Mohitt shared, “It felt amazing to become a part of the Mirzapur world and especially the film. Like millions of others, I had been a huge fan of the show and the universe that Gurmeet has created. I felt honoured to join such a talented cast and to work with one of the best directors and human beings I’ve met. Puneet Ji, the showrunner and writer, was also incredible to collaborate with. We were set to go on floors very soon, and I was really looking forward to this journey.”
Mohitt, who was last seen delivering a gritty performance in Azaad, was praised for portraying a complex antagonist with raw intensity. His addition to the Mirzapur universe seemed like a natural progression, as he brought both experience and nuance that fit the series’ gritty, layered tone.
Alongside Mohitt, the makers also confirmed the casting of seasoned actor Ravi Kishan and fan-favourite Jitendra Kumar, both of whom bring their own distinct energy to the ensemble. While Kishan adds gravitas with his years in Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema, Jitendra Kumar offers a contemporary edge with his natural and relatable performance style.
The film already features franchise regulars Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu, reprising their iconic roles as Guddu, Kaleen Bhaiyya, and Munna, respectively. Shweta Tripathi also returns as Golu, continuing her complex character arc. With such a diverse and powerhouse cast, the stakes of Mirzapur: The Film have only gone higher.
While details of the new characters remain tightly under wraps, insiders hinted that these roles would surprise fans and add unexpected turns to the storyline. The casting announcement alone sparked widespread discussion among viewers, all eager to see how the new faces would impact the narrative dynamics.
Originally announced in 2024 through a high-impact promo featuring Fazal, Tripathi, and Divyenndu, Mirzapur: The Film aims to take the franchise to the big screen while retaining its signature storytelling style gritty, raw, and intensely character-driven. The film is being directed by Gurmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, the minds behind the original series.
According to early reports, production is already underway, and the makers are targeting a 2026 theatrical release, followed by an eventual OTT streaming premiere.
With its cinematic scale, fresh additions, and a gripping narrative promise, Mirzapur: The Film positioned itself as a landmark entry in Indian crime drama. For Mohitt Maalik , the journey into this universe wasn’t just another role it was a creative milestone.
