King Charles III isn’t doing “too bad” as his cancer battle continues.
The monarch issued a rare update on his health while visiting Midland Metropolitan University Hospital on Wednesday, according to Hello! magazine.
When patient Jacqueline Page told His Majesty she was “wearing out,” Charles noted that this is a “terrible thing” he is “discovering already.”
The 76-year-old quipped, “The bits don’t work so well when you get past 70.”
While chatting with Matthew Shinda about the patient’s prostate cancer, Charles confirmed that he is “not [doing] too bad” himself.
“Half the problem is detecting it … in time,” he added. “The great thing, I think, is they’re getting better and better at dealing with these things. The trouble is there’s always hope down the road.”
The comment marked his first comment since telling a cancer survivor in July that he was “doing a lot better now.”
The royal went public with his diagnosis in February 2024 after undergoing a procedure for a benign enlarged prostate.
“Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” Buckingham Palace revealed at the time, without specifying the specific type of cancer Charles suffers from.
At the time, the “grateful” king felt “wholly positive” about his journey.
This March, Charles was hospitalized for “temporary side effects” from his treatment and briefly took a step back from his royal duties.
He returned to work by April.
Charles’ daughter-in-law Kate Middleton similarly made headlines for pausing her outings while battling cancer last year.
The Princess of Wales, 43, completed chemotherapy in September 2024 and has made frequent public appearances since marking the milestone.
Most recently, Prince William’s wife debuted her stunning blond hair transformation while visiting London’s Natural History Museum.
In addition to Charles and Middleton, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is battling skin cancer.
The 65-year-old breast cancer survivor shared her diagnosis in January 2024, six months after undergoing a double mastectomy.
Ferguson has gushed about how “full of admiration” she is for Middleton — who is a three-time mom to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — staying strong amid her health struggles.
