Wednesday Season 2’s makers tease fans around the idea of Season 3
For anyone who enjoyed watching Wednesday Season 2, the good news is that Season 3 is officially on its way. Netflix had confirmed the renewal of the show in August 2025, just before the second part of Season 2 was released. The show’s co-creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar shared with Tudum that the finale was intentionally designed to set up the next chapter. They hoped fans were ‘surprised’ and ‘satisfied’ by the finale of Wednesday Season 2 and revealed that it was like “a breadcrumb” that will lead directly into Season 3.
As for when Wednesday Season 3 will be released, there is no official release date yet. However, a report from WhatsOnNetflix has suggested that the filming and production of the new Season will not begin immediately. Also, based on the elaborate production schedule of Wednesday’s previous seasons, Season 3 can be scheduled for 2027. Though the wait could be long, creators have promised that it will be worth it. Alfred teased that it would be “the darkest chapter of the Addams family yet,” hinting that even deeper mysteries would come.
What will be Wednesday 3’s cast and plot?
While Netflix hasn’t released a full cast list, it’s almost certain that Jenna Ortega will return in her iconic role as ‘Wednesday Addams’ Beyond her, fans may see more Addams family members in the spotlight. Meanwhile, the finale of Season 2 has left several dangling threads for the upcoming Season, like ‘Wednesday’ saving ‘Tyler’ (Hunter Doohan), her complicated relationship with her grandmother, and the question of whether her psychic powers will fully return.
The show will also need to fill leadership at Nevermore Academy after the deaths of Principal’ Weems’, portrayed by Gwendoline Christie and ‘Dort’, played by Steve Buscemi. According to Alfred, viewers will be “very surprised” by who takes on the role in season 3.
