White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro has generated controversy with comments made during a Fox News interview on Sunday. The organisation American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD) has called for his dismissal by President Donald Trump over what they term ‘Hinduphobic remarks’. The demand follows Navarro’s statement that “‘brahmins’ were profiteering at the expense of Indian people.” The Trump aide made the comments while defending a 50% US tariff on Indian goods and accusing India of laundering Russian oil. This is the latest in a series of controversial statements by Navarro concerning India amidst an ongoing tariff conflict between the two nations.
