What happened in the previous episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty?
In the previous episode, the young fiancés, ‘Belly’ and ‘Jeremiah’, were gearing up for their big day, the wedding. The duo invited their friends over to Cousins and were enjoying a gala time with them. They celebrated their bachelorette parties with ‘Jeremiah’ and his gang hitting the beach and getting high on intoxicants. At the same time, ‘Belly’ and her girls danced the night away at a club and played fun games to find out how much she knew about her to-be-husband. The bride and groom’s teams also prepared sensual dance moves to showcase their ravishing sides at the wedding.
But amid all the joy and laughter, one heart silently broke into millions of pieces. ‘Conrad’s’ world was shattering as the love of his life, ‘Belly’, was slowly slipping away from him forever. He somehow managed to keep his feelings in control during her dating era with ‘Jeremiah’, but her marriage would leave ‘Conrad’ absolutely hopeless. So, he took the last shot and impulsively confessed to being in love with her all this time. Although she rejected him, she revealed to ‘Jeremiah’ that she still has feelings for ‘Conrad’, leading to the wedding being called off.
What’s next for ‘Belly’, ‘Conrad’ and ‘Jeremiah’?
As the wedding is officially off the cards now, ‘Belly’ decides to chase her dreams and go to Paris to gain the academic experience she always wanted. However, she sees ‘Conrad’ at the airport and heads towards him. After he gets informed about the marriage cancellation by his dad, ‘Conrad’s’ eyes meet ‘Belly’ at the airport, and a rush of unresolved feelings flashes in their eyes. However, to the viewer’s disappointment, they do not reunite.
‘Belly’ moves to France, makes new friends and gets close to a guy. ‘Conrad’ moves his separate way, probably to spend some time alone. His brother, ‘Jeremiah’, also takes some time to heal, and during the tough phase, relies a lot on his father. The man, who hasn’t been a perfect dad to the boys until now, might show a different side to him henceforth, as his comforting ‘Jeremiah’ shows his genuine care for him. Episode 9 will explore all these aspects, setting the stage for the last two episodes.
