A woman was shot by her estranged lover in Ahmedabad on Tuesday for getting engaged to another man. The woman has been admitted to a hospital where she is presently undergoing treatment. The accused has been arrested by police.
According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the survivor had gone to visit her lover, Arbaaz. Both had a heated argument when he allegedly took out a gun and shot her from close range. Luckily, the bullet grazed her and she escaped with minor injuries.
Following the incident, the accused, who is originally from Madhya Pradesh, fled the spot and was arrested by police from a bus on his way back to his home state.
Investigations revealed that earlier the woman was in a relationship with the accused. However, she got engaged with another man, which enraged the accused and he planned to kill her.
He went all the way to Ahmedabad from Madhya Pradesh, met her and fired upon her with the gun he had bought from Madhya Pradesh for Rs 28,000.
