After Saturday Night Live celebrated its 50 years, some key cast members would not be returning for the 51st season. Including Heidi Gardner, four of the show’s key performers have left. Amidst this, SNL has announced five new additions to its roster, including Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson, and Veronika Slowikowska. As these familiar faces are all set to make their SNL debut, here’s everything to know about them and where you might have seen them before.
Veronica Slowikowska will be seen in SNL season 51
Canadian comedienne Veronika Slowikowska shared the news of her joining SNL for its upcoming season and called it a ‘dream come true’. She has been a viral comic content creator on social media. Apart from that, Veronica was also seen in the comedy What We Do in the Shadows. Among the five new cast members, Veronica is the only Canadian and female comedian. She first entered the world of comedy when she joined the Toronto musical comedy troupe and hasn’t looked back ever since. As a popular content creator, there is a lot of anticipation to see Veronica on the SNL stage.
Ben Marshall of Please Don’t Destroy will be joining SNL
Ben Marshall of the popular trio, which formed the Please Don’ts Destroy troupe, has joined SNL. In season 47 of SNL the group was added to their roster to produce and perform in comedy sketches. However, out of the trio as Ben Marshall joins SNL as a cast member, John Higgins announced that he was leaving the show entirely. Meanwhile, the third member of the trio, Martin Herlihy, will stay on SNL as part of the writing staff.
Kam Patterson, a regular of Kill Tony on SNL
If you have seen the online comedy show Kill Tony, you might recognise Kam Patterson as one of the regulars of the stand-up comedy show. As per reports, the Florida-based comedian was inspired by the likes of Kevin Hart, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and Richard Pryor when he started doing performing. Apart from being a fan-favourite in Kill Tony, Kam was also seen in Kevin Hart’s comedy film, 72 Hours.
Jeremy Culhane will be joining the SNL new starcast
Jeremy Culhane is a comedian well-known for improv. He is also an actor and has appeared on Mindy Kaling‘s 2021 comedy series, The Sex Lives of College Girls. He has also guest-starred in comedy sketches on other platforms such as Smosh and Dropout TV. Apart from this, Jeremy is a newcomer, hence it would be interesting to see what fresh comedy he adds to the SNL sketches.
Tommy Brennan, seen on Jimmy Fallon’s show, will be on SNL
Tommy Brennan is a rising comic star who made has made his debut in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Apart from that, he has also opened for some of the very popular acts of the U.S.A., such as Nikki Glaser, Taylor Tomlinson, and the late Louie Anderson. Tommy was also featured on Comedy Central and appeared in the popular web series and podcast Roommates-In-Law, which he co-produced as well. As his stand-up comedy on Jimmy Fallon’s show was well-received by many people, many SNL fans are excited to see him on stage again in the upcoming 51st season.
