Influencer, Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, was found dead in an abandoned car at the age of 32. The influencer’s deceased body was wrapped in plastic when the vehicle was discovered. However, what left everyone shocked was the fact that she was not the only one who lost her life in the brutal murder.
Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay found dead
It was on August 22, 2025, when four unidentified bodies were found abandoned and wrapped in plastic inside a pickup truck in the San Andres neighbourhood of Guadalajara, Mexico. It was prosecutor, Alfonso Gutierrez Santillan who later shared the details of what had happened during a press conference. Several days later, the family of four was identified as TikToker, Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay (32), her husband, Roberto Carlos Gil Licea (36), their son, Gael Santiago (13) and their daughter, Regina (7).
Three men were arrested in relation to the case, and later kidnapped
According to El Financiero, three men who worked at a mechanic shop near the scene where the vehicle containing the bodies was abandoned were arrested. However, they were released soon after, as there was insufficient evidence to connect them to the crime. Nonetheless, what came as a shock was when the men were later kidnapped by armed men minutes after they left the prosecutor’s office. Further, the reports revealed that the three men met with two acquaintances outside the prosecutor’s office when they were intercepted, and four out of the five men were taken. At the same time, one individual managed to escape and remains at large.
What happened to Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay and her family
The reports further revealed that the attackers were waiting for the group for more than two hours before attacking. As for the nature of the attack, so far, it is unknown whether the attack was an act of retaliation for the murder of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay and her family. While local authorities are continuing to investigate the family’s death, the Latin Times report revealed a surveillance video.
The video traced the investigators back the route of the truck to a nearby auto repair shop, where they discovered bloodstains, bullet casings and ballistic evidence indicating that the family was likely executed at the site before being driven to another location. The prosecutor further gave his statement on the findings and stated:
“While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location.”

Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay’s family’s identities were confirmed on August 28, 2025. According to El Financiero, Esmeralda’s husband is thought to have been the target of the murders. However, she often flaunted her supposedly lavish lifestyle on social media, sharing videos of her Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton products, luxury cars, cosmetic surgery, and expensive vacations with her more than 44,000 TikTok followers. Her final post before her demise showed the influencer driving her car on her ranch. In another post this month, Garibay shared a video of her fluffy white dog running on her lawn.
