Ro Khanna urges MAGA Indian-Americans to speak up against Trump’s tariffs on India.

Indian-origin Democrat leader Ro Khanna spoke up against Donald Trump’s tariff on India and questioned the silence of the Indian-American MAGA supporters on the issue. “I am waiting for all those Indian Americans who voted for Trump over Harris — you know who you are — to speak out against Trump sabotaging the partnership with blanket tariffs that are harsher than those on China. Anyone willing to speak up?” Ro Khanna wrote. Before Ro Khanna, former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who has an Indian origin, commented on the US-India situation and remarked that while Trump is right to impose additional tariffs on India as India purchases Russian oil, Trump must not forget that India is not an adversary like China.

“India must take Trump’s point over Russian oil seriously, and work with the White House to find a solution,” Nikki Haley said.Ro Khanna’s post triggered mixed reactions from Indian-Americans. Entrepreneur Vinod Khosla said he never voted for Trump but he perceives the situation as Trump’s ego against Modi. “I did not vote for Trump but this is only about his ego and wanting Modi to nominate him for the Nobel Peace prize (which Pakistan has). If he ever wins the Nobel, I will stop caring about who wins the Nobel. It will be desecrated, dirtbag medal!” Khosla wrote. “Indian Americans voted for Trump because of you guys. The democrats cosing up with radical left and Islamist lobby to undermine indian democracy, comments on Kashmir, trying regime change, painting india as illiberal country which is untrue,” one wrote. Indian-American venture capitalist and a donor to the Republican Party, Asha Jadeja Motwani, has been pushing for a reset for the US-India relationship. “What Trump wants is for Modi to call him and reconcile full stop. As we know JaiShankar calling Rubio did not work full stop. I know that everyone in India is miffed and upset with trump but right now the nation comes first full stop. Running to our adversary china who helped Pakistan in war against us is not the answer full stop,” Motwani posted.
