Purpose played its final Broadway last week and brought in just over $1 million, marking the highest gross of its run.

With that gross, the play, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, also broke a house Hayes Theater, besting the tally brought in by Appropriate, another Jacobs-Jenkins play, last season. Purpose played to 100 percent capacity last week and had an average ticket price of $219.52 last week, the highest of its run.

The play, about a prominent Black family contending with their political legacy, opened March 17 and won the Tony Award for best play, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Art, starring James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale, started previews Aug. 28 and brought in a strong $668,504 across three performances at the Music Box Theatre. The play had an average ticket price of $223, which tied for the highest in the industry last week alongside Just In Time.

Mamma Mia! continues to rise, bringing in $1.79 million at the Winter Garden Theatre last week, up about $2,000 from the prior week. The musical continues to play to 100 percent capacity.

Hamilton was the highest grossing show of the week, with $2.3 million as the show continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary, beating out typical frontrunner Wicked with $2 million. The top five were rounded out by The Lion King with $1.875 million, Mamma Mia and Maybe Happy Ending with $1.6 million, as Darren Criss played his last performance before taking a brief hiatus. He is set to return to the show Nov. 5.
