The Charlie’s Angels fame was friends with fashion designer, Nicole Richie and her husband, Joel Madden, who happens to be Benji’s twin brother. Benji accompanied his brother and sister-in-law to the party, where he met Cameron for the first time. As per an Elle article, Cameron recalled her chance encounter with Benji, and said:
“Joel said, ‘Hey, can my brother come over?’ And I said, ‘Of course, it’s family, we’re having a barbecue’ and then [Benji] walked in the door and I was like—you! You!”

Cameron and Benji felt an instant attraction towards each other in their first meeting at the barbecue party. Nicole Richie even jokingly took credit for setting them up on Watch What Happens Live, stating, “I’m going to take responsibility for everything!”. Cameron and Benji were married on January 5, 2015, in a surprise ceremony under a large tent in the backyard of her home in Beverly Hills, California. It was a Jewish-inspired wedding, an intimate affair with approximately 90 guests. To keep the event a secret, she told the guests that she was hosting a pre-Golden Globes party. Calling marriage ‘pretty awesome’, Cameron shared with Harper’s Bazaar:
“[Marriage] was the biggest thing I’ve done in my 40s, and it opened me up in different ways.”

In December 2019, Cameron and Benji welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden, through surrogacy. They announced her birth on Instagram, stating that they had a “strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.” Their son, Cardinal Madden, was born in March 2024. They announced his birth on Instagram and requested privacy, writing, “He is awesome and we are all so happy he is here!”
