The television industry recently lost one of its most popular and celebrated faces. On August 31, 2025, Pavitra Rishta fame, Priya Marathe breathed her last in her home in Mumbai. Her death has left all her friends, family and industry colleagues in shock. Recently, a clip was shared on social media, which featured Priya’s friends crying.
Priya Marathe’s funeral
On the evening of August 31, 2025, a clip was shared on Instagram by Filmy Mantramedia, which claimed that the funeral of Priya Marathe was taking place, and it showed her friends and family crying. The clip featured Priya Marathe’s friend and Pavitra Rishta co-actor, Prarthana Behere, who looked completely devastated by Priya’s death. Apart from her, the clip also showed other people, who were equally sad and shocked by her death.

Priya Marathe, was born on April 23, 1987, and was a celebrated Indian actress. She was known for her work both in Hindi and Marathi industry. She began her career with the Marathi serial, Ya Sukhano Ya. Her breakthrough came with her role as ‘Vidya’ in the show, Kasamh Se and as ‘Varsha’ in Pavitra Rishta. Apart from this, she also appeared in shows like Comedy Circus, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Tu Tithe Me and more. She last appeared in Tuzech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe in 2023.
In her personal life, Priya was married to Shantanu Moghe, who is the son of veteran actor, Shrikant Moghe. Priya and Shantanu tied the knot in 2012, and since then, they had been each other’s travel partners. On August 31, 2025, Priya passed away at her residence in Mira Road. She was 38 and died after a year-long battle with cancer. Reportedly, Priya showed signs of recovery, but unfortunately the disease relapsed and it ultimately took her life.

Priya Marathe’s co-actors reacted to her death
While Prarthana Behere can be seen crying in the Instagram clip, a few of Priya’s co-actors from her shows also expressed their sadness at her death. Actress, Usha Nadkarni, who worked with Priya on Pavitra Rishta, spoke about Priya’s death and explained that 38 was no age to go. Usha also remembered Priya as a sweet and silent girl on set. Another actor, who spoke about Priya was Subodh Bhave. He described Priya as a fighter and also appreciated her hard work. In a heartfelt note, Subodh gave condolence to Priya.

Prarthana Behere is a popular actress, who has worked in Hindi TV, Marathi cinema and Bollywood. She first gained widespread recognition with her role as ‘Vaishali’ in Pavitra Rishta. In 2009, she appeared in a Marathi film, Rita. Later, she did Bollywood films like Love U…Mr. Kalakaar!, Bodyguard and Wajah Tum Ho. She also did Marathi films like Coffee Ani Barach Kahi, Mitwaa, Fugay and more. In her personal life, she is married to Abhishek Jawkar since November 2017.
