Meghan McCain is facing backlash for her brutal dig at Greta Thunberg’s appearance.
The conservative commentator took aim at Thunberg’s hair in response to a video of the 22-year-old political activist speaking out in support of Palestinians. McCain compared Thunberg’s haircut to “Shrek” villain Lord Farquuad.
McCain, 40, wrote on X, “I refuse to take anyone talking about politics seriously with uneven bangs and this s—-y Lord Farquaad hair.”
She has since deleted the post.
Critics immediately blasted McCain for her comments in response.
“I refuse to take anyone talking about politics seriously when they have to use their last name to get them places,” one X user wrote, referring to McCain’s late father, Arizona Senator John McCain.
Another X user wrote, “Whether you agree with her or not.. why the mean girl comment? Surely, you must know what it feels like when someone criticizes your appearance. Do better!”
“A person’s appearance has zero to do with their integrity or passion about any cause. You should delete this. It’s beneath even you,” yet another comment dragging McCain read.
Some critics took aim at McCain’s own polarizing hair styles during her time as a co-host on “The View.”
“Meghan. You are a beautiful woman but let’s not forget that we all saw your hair when you were on The View,” one post read.
“Look at some of your hair styles from the View. Awful like your personality,” another comment wrote.
“Reminds me of not taking you seriously with all those hair styles you had on the view,” another X user cracked.
McCain’s rep didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Back in February 2021, McCain responded to criticism about her hairstyles and makeup on “The View.”
“People have a lot to say about me in general but in regards to my hair and makeup… I’m just having fun switching up, playing around and experimenting. It’s covid and I just had a baby, let a bitch live!” she tweeted at the time.
When a troll mocked her hair extensions at the time, she also hit back, “Can a bitch experiment with extensions and hair pieces? It’s the pandemic. I don’t have that much to entertain me anymore.”
In March 2020, McCain also hit back at people criticizing her looks.
“I would like to talk about politics and not have every comment be about the way I look and my weight. It makes you feel weird,” she said on “The View.”
“Men just don’t have that problem,” she added. “Everyone talks about how we look on this show all the time. Can’t you just hear what we have to say?”
