AIADMK General Secretary Edapadi K Palanisamy and Tamil Nadu BJP State President Nainar Nagendran have criticised Chief Minister MK Stalin over his ongoing foreign tour.
Stalin left for a visit to European nations on August 31 to attract investments for Tamil Nadu and is scheduled to return on September 8. Palanisamy alleged that the programme was not an official trip but a “family trip.”
He said he has been demanding a white paper ever since the Chief Minister began such visits. “CM Stalin has gone abroad four times. If asked whether he was able to attract noteworthy investments, the reply from industrialists would be ‘no.’ Is the foreign trip to Germany and England meant to attract investments or to conduct family investments? Will CM Stalin respond to the people’s question?” Palanisamy asked.
Nagendran also sought details of the investments claimed from earlier visits. “The Chief Minister has said that Rs 4,000 crore came in from his Dubai trip and Rs 7,000 crore from the US trip. Where is the proof? Give us a white paper. These trips look like an eyewash as no investment is visible on the ground,” he said.
Responding to the criticism, the state Hindu Religious Charitable Endowments Minister PK Sekar Babu said, “Let Prime Minister Modi release a white paper on his foreign trips first, then we will talk.” He added that Stalin’s visit was no different from the trips undertaken by Palanisamy when he was in power.
