Then reports suggest that he accidentally saw a YouTube video of Justin Bieber, who was 13 years old at the time and convinced his mother to move to the U.S.A. from Canada to give the teenager’s music career a chance.
After Justin Bieber entered the industry by signing up in a joint venture of Scooter Braun and Usher, he went on to become an instant hit with his song, ‘Baby‘. Scooter also got Ariana Grande to sign to his management label. Apart from this, he has also been known for managing Psy, Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin Garrix, Kanye West, Black Eyed Peas, Lil Dicky, among many others. In 2021, Scooter Braun became the CEO of the North American branch of Hybe Corporation, the South Korean entertainment company which discovered both BTS and TXT.

In 2019, a huge dispute occurred between pop star Taylor Swift and her former record label, Big Machine Records. The singer has signed up with another record label after her deal with Big Machine expired. Around this time, Scooter Braun bought the ownership of Taylor’s former record label and became the owner of all her first six studio albums. Taylor Swift said that she had tried to purchase her masters back from the company but they had kept very unreasonable clauses. She also called Scooter ‘a manipulative bully’.
Taylor Swift also claimed that Big Machine Records had barred her from performing her own songs at the 2019 American Music Awards and had also prevented her from using the songs in her documentary, Miss Americana. The issue reached new heights when Scooter Braun sold the masters to Shamrock. However, Taylor stood her ground and started from scratch. The pop star went on to re-record the albums to own her songs again and called them Taylor’s Version.
Following this move, a significant debate arose surrounding artists’ rights, intellectual property rights, and creative freedom. The Taylor’s Version songs swiftly replaced the older versions. This move also led to Billboard announcing that Taylor Swift was the ‘Greatest Pop Star’ and made her risky re-recording business quite successful.
