Munawar Faruqui recalls his mother’s death
In a recent interview with Prakhar Gupta, Munawar Faruqui opened up about his mother’s sudden and tragic death. He recalled his emotional and traumatic childhood, where he saw his father’s violence on her mother, which eventually forced her to take poison and end her life. He shared that his family told him not to tell the reason of death to anyone. He explained:
“She never got any kind of appreciation from her family, and she endured so much during those 22 years of marriage with my father. She was very patient, but that sabr has a limit, and she had been bottling up so much for so long. I was 13 years old, and someone woke me up in the morning and told me that she is in the hospital. When I reached there, I found out that my family refused to tell anyone that she had taken poison, for reasons I never understood. There was a nurse at that hospital who was a family friend from my mother’s side, and I told her. She was shifted to the ER immediately, but she passed away.”
He continued to add that after his mother’s death, Munawar wasn’t even given time to process it. He wasn’t really allowed to grieve. He recalled that his family called him the next morning and gave him a bunch of tasks and asked him to be strong in front of others. He shared that he doesn’t remember feeling sad, all he does remember is pretending to be normal, even during the last rites.
Munawar Faruqui recalls about his father having a paralytic attack
In the same interview, Munawar Faruqui even spoke about his father’s condition. He shared that even though there was a lot of hatred inside him for his father, he eventually forgave him after seeing his health conditions. He mentioned that 2 years after his mother passed away, his father got a paralytic attack, which paralysed him. He shared that after seeing his father suffer so much everyday, he started forgiving him and forgetting things of the past. In his words:
“Initially I was very angry at my father, but when I saw the realisation hit him, I let my anger go. Two years after Mom’s passing, my dad got a paralytic attack, and 80% of his body was paralysed. He was that way for 11 years, and I thought of him as a villain, but he was still my father. You start telling yourself that he did something wrong, but he got something for it too; he is suffering as well. Iss insaan se mai kya nafrat karu? He doesn’t have anyone besides you. That situation made me forgiving, and then you keep letting go of everything, and nothing affects you anymore.”
