Author, columnist, and self-confessed movie buff Twinkle Khanna has once again proved why her film reviews are almost as entertaining as the films themselves. Taking to her social media, Twinkle shared her take on The Roses, the much-anticipated dark comedy starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, and in typical Mrs. Funnybones style, she served up wit, cheek, and candour in equal measure.

In her video review, Twinkle hilariously breaks down the marital chaos between Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch). She quips that for Ivy, the best thing about her husband is simply “that he has arms,” while for Theo, living with Ivy is “marginally better than living with a wolf.” With her trademark humor, Twinkle praises the duo’s crackling chemistry, describing their performances as “a lesson in marital chaos that is witty and a bit unhinged.”
Her review highlights the outrageous antics the couple engages in — from waving pepper spray to brandishing guns at each other — all presented in a way that flips gender roles on their head without ever slipping into gimmick territory. At one point, Twinkle cheekily dubs Benedict Cumberbatch a ‘hot batata vada’, a quirky compliment that has already caught the internet’s attention.
Summing up her experience, Twinkle declared, The Roses is a film “that will leave you in splits,” admitting, “I can’t remember the last time I loved a movie this much.” She also shared that she watched it with her family and friends, and “not a single person left without being dazzled.” Her post was captioned with a playful question to her followers: “What do you love most about your partner? For Ivy Rose, it’s that Theo has arms. For Theo? Living with Ivy is marginally better than living with a wolf.”
Directed by Jay Roach and written by Tony McNamara, The Roses also stars Kate McKinnon and Andy Samberg. The film is all set for its theatrical release in India tomorrow under the Searchlight Pictures banner.
