For the past few months, Govinda and his wife, Sunita, have been garnering spotlight after the rumours of their separation surfaced in the media. It was stated that Sunita had filed for a divorce at the Bandra Family Court, where she cited cruelty, desertion and adultery. On top of it, Sunita removed Govinda’s surname from her social media handle, which created a lot more speculation.
However, the couple was recently spotted together, dispelling rumours of their divorce. It was on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi that Govinda and Sunita were papped together at their house as the couple distributed sweets to paps stationed outside their home. They also posed and talked to the paps, which made their fans believe that everything is fine in their lives.
When Govinda’s wife, Sunita, called him ‘difficult’
In a conversation with ETimes, Sunita spoke about her husband, Govinda and revealed that he is a very difficult person to manage. The star wife also stated how her temper is worse than his. In her words:
“If someone does something wrong, then even I cannot tolerate; I have a worse temper than Govinda. I am so short-tempered because I handle his work and he is very difficult to manage. If somebody is misbehaving with you or your co-star, no one can be quiet.”
Sunita Ahuja revealed why it is useless to be an actor’s wife
In the same candid conversation, Sunita also revealed that it is useless to be an actor’s wife. She also cited the reason behind it and shared that to be an actor’s wife, one has to be very strong. Continuing the conversation, Sunita also stated that she fell in love with Govinda at the age of 15, and it was love at first sight.
Govinda and Sunita’s divorce rumours
According to a recent report by Hauterrfly, Sunita Ahuja filed for divorce from Govinda in December 2024 at the Bandra family court. She moved the case under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds. Govinda was reportedly called by the court on May 25, 2025, and since June 2025, the couple has been undergoing court-mandated counselling. The same report also revealed that while Sunita Ahuja has been constantly attending the court hearings, Govinda has been missing them.
When Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja, reacted to her parents’ divorce
Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Govinda’s daughter was questioned about the rumours surrounding her parents’ divorce. She instantly replied that it is all fake and called them rumours. She also requested that the media not pay any attention to the separation buzz. Tina was quoted as saying:
“It’s all rumours.I don’t pay attention to these rumours.”
When she was further questioned about how her parents had been dealing with such news, she revealed that she could not say anything. She also added that her father is not in the country. Further, Tina mentioned that she is blessed to have a family and is amused at people’s concern about her family’s well-being. She said:
“Kya bolun mein? He is not even in the country. I feel blessed to have a beautiful family and I am really grateful for all the concern, love and support we have been receiving from the media, fans, and loved ones.”
