American actress and comedian, Heidi Lynn Gardner, is currently leading the headlines as she is reportedly quitting the sketch-comedy series, Saturday Night Live. Gardner was one of the longest-running cast members, joining the show in 2017 as a featured player in Season 43. She went on to become a full-time cast member in two years, eventually spending eight seasons on the show.

Heidi Gardner’s husband, Zeb Wells, is a comic book writer, director, screenwriter, and voice artist. He is also known for writing The Dark Reign: Elektra and The Dark Origin of the Venom franchise. Wells garnered a lot of attention when he was named as one of the lead writers of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Apart from being a writer, Wells is also known for his work as a director and voice actor on the animated series, Robot Chicken, for which he won an Emmy. Apart from being a writer and director, Wells is the co-creator of the sitcom, SuperMansion and is also the voice behind Robobot and Groaner.

Heidi met Zeb in 2009 when she was part of the comedy group, the Groundlings, in Los Angeles. The duo fell in love and culminated their relationship into marriage in 2010. The couple didn’t embrace parenthood and has no kids.

Heidi Gardner and Zeb Wells decided to part ways in 2023. The actress announced the same on The Liz Moody podcast. The SLN star talked about the painful split but didn’t take Wells’ name and said:
“Sadly I went through the end of a relationship, which it feels weird to say end because I also know that person will always be in my life and it will transform in a different way. You know, sending them all the like love and respect in the world that I still have for them. But it was just a couple-year period of transition and grief and hope and loss and all of those things.”
Heidi Gardner revealed how she found solace amid her painful split
In the same interaction, Heidi also revealed how she found her true self amid her painful and uncomfortable split. She learned to enjoy her own company and value her existence more. The actress also revealed that she leaned on her female friends, who became her biggest support system. In her words:
“That’s just been a really cool reward out of something that was very painful and uncomfortable. And I will say the biggest thing I learned in that time is lean on the women in your life and your girlfriends. I already had amazing friends and family, but I will just say that women showed up in such an incredible way and showed me that in future relationships, my romantic partner I learned does not need to be my emotional rock.”
Heidi Gardner worked in a salon before becoming an actress
Heidi dropped out of college at the age of 21 and went to LA. She worked in a salon for nine years, where a friend suggested she attend a theatre at The Groundings. Heidi was so inspired by the performance there that she decided to become an actress. She enrolled in workshops to learn improvisation and then auditioned for the Groundlings’ basic class, and was selected.
Initially, she worked as a voice-over artist, lending her voice to Bratz, SuperMansion, and Mike Tyson Mysteries. In 2017, she joined Saturday Night Live for its forty-third season, and since then, there has been no looking back.
