Actor Soha Ali Khan is excitedly looking forward to her podcast ‘All About Her’. Ahead of the launch, the actor sat down for an exclusive conversation with India Today and spoke about waiting for the right work and why she is not part of several commercial cinemas like in the early 2000s.
It is no secret that one of the most remembered dance songs of Soha Ali Khan is ‘Gustakh Dil’ with Shahid Kapoor, which continues to do the rounds even years later.
Asked whether she has ever gone back to watch it, Soha admitted she doesn’t really look back on her dance numbers with much fondness. “Yeah, I do feel like now, at least, you know, I’m not feeling so despondent that I won’t have work. I feel like women in their 40s are being authentically portrayed on screen, and I think that something will come along, I’m sure that will appeal to me soon enough. But in terms of singing and dancing, I don’t know,” she said.
Reflecting on the making of ‘Gustakh Dil’, she recalled how challenging it was, “I think the choreographer on ‘Gustakh Dil’ really struggled with me, and then there was Shahid, who was so good. Even when I’ve tried dancing in ’99, I think with Kunal [Kemmu], who again is a dancer, and if you notice in that song, his are like proper shots, and mine are like two-second shots, which are basically close-ups of my face.”
She confessed that those dance sequences were far from enjoyable. “When I was dancing, those were very stressful days for me; there is no sense of nostalgia hence. I used to be only glad that it’s done,” she added.
Soha was last seen in ‘Chhori 2’. Meanwhile, her podcast will see the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sharmila Tagore and others discuss women’s fitness and wellness in a way that hasn’t been tapped before.
