Tyler, the Creator has been outside this summer. Instead of delivering a glossy and expensive visual, Tyler took it back to the 2000s and his roots for the DIY “SUCKA FREE” video, which arrived on Wednesday (Aug. 27).
In the clip, the Grammy-winning rapper hits the pier and then moves throughout the Big Apple, all while low-budget, Word Art-inspired graphics show up on screen.
He then heads to his listening party to dance the night away with fans. “Here’s some clips from the function we threw for [the] new album,” a message reads in the video. Tyler continues to keep the party alive and then at one point, a hilarious message pops up: “Trav said I look like Bobby Brown here.”
Continuing with the painfully 2000s theme, Tyler instructs fans to follow him on YouTube to close out the visual.
Tyler, the Creator has been juggling the worlds of CHROMAKOPIA and DON’T TAP THE GLASS since dropping the latter in July. He previously dropped off videos for “Sugar on My Tongue” and “Darling, I,” which was a star-studded affair featuring Nia Long, Lauren London and Ayo Edebiri.
DON’T TAP THE GLASS went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 197,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending July 24, according to Luminate, which was a shortened tracking week for the album.
Tyler has remained on the road overseas for the Chromakopia World Tour, which is currently in Australia for shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
