Alia publicly condemned the intrusion and called it a ‘clear invasion of privacy’. However, it seems like actress, Payal Rohatgi doesn’t agree with her and has shared a note dismissing the claims and criticising Alia’s stance.
Payal Rohatgi criticised Alia Bhatt
On August 26, 2025, Alia Bhatt made a public statement on social media, urging publications and digital platforms to delete the videos, emphasising that filming or circulating such content posed both a security concern and a privacy violation. However, soon after, Payal Rohatgi reshared the post, openly disagreeing with her.
In her heated response, Payal stated that people recording Alia Bhatt’s residence does not constitute an invasion of privacy. She added that if it were any sort of s**ual act with your husband or another man, then it would have been an invasion of privacy. The comment bothered netizens, who thought it was extremely uncalled for. Payal further added:
“@aliaabhatt sharing the location of your house is not INVASION OF PRIVACY. Hope u get basic common sense. Influencers create videos on the streets (in public), and houses are visible in the background. Get yourself security and cameras as you can afford them, but kindly use reason. This is not history but common sense.”

Payal Rohatgi’s comments on Alia Bhatt didn’t age well, and netizens soon started bashing her for the comment. A user penned, “People are saying anything these days to stay relevant; she’s such a massive hater.” Another commented, “Imagine being so out of touch and hating someone on the Internet so much! Yikes!” A user wrote, “Rubbish…really dumb Payal or whoever attention seeker.” A comment read, “Getting views at the expense of someone more popular – uggh.”
What did Alia Bhatt Say?
The viral video, reportedly filmed from a neighbouring building, offered a close view of the interiors of Alia and Ranbir’s multi-storey property. Addressing the matter, Alia took to her social media. She shared that while she understands that space in a city like Mumbai is limited, that doesn’t give anyone the right to film private residences. She added:
“A video of our home – still under construction – has been recorded and circulated by multiple publications, without our knowledge or consent. This is a clear invasion of privacy and a serious security issue.”
The actress further urged media houses to refrain from sharing such content. Alia Bhatt stated that filming or photographing someone’s personal space without permission was not ‘content’ but ‘a violation’. The Rs. 250 crore residence is still under construction. The actress’s note read:
“It should never be normalised. Would you tolerate videos of the inside of your home being shared publicly, without you knowing? None of us would. So here’s a humble but firm request – if you come across such content online, please don’t forward it or share it further.”
