It’s been a busy year for Enhypen, who just wrapped their U.S. leg of their third world tour, “Walk The Line” at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The tour kicked off in their home base of South Korea in October of last year with stops in Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand before coming stateside for six sold-out shows.

In addition to their ongoing tour, Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki have marked major milestones this year, from their Coachella debut, to the release of their sixth EP, Desire : Unleash, and their upcoming five-year anniversary.

The group arrived in the U.S. just days after additional shows in Japan and are continuing the tour in Europe for the first time, before returning to Asia for a stop in Singapore and encore performances in Seoul to close out the run. “The U.S. tour was really short and compact, but the final stop we had here was at a venue we’ve never performed at, and it was a stadium, so it felt meaningful. It was a new experience,” Jay shares.

Enhypen met with WWD the day after their Los Angeles show to share their must-have items and what’s in their tour bags. “It feels like we’re shooting a crime scene,” Jungwon says with a laugh as we go through each bag to photograph their items.

    JUNGWON

    JUNGWON’s picks

    Samsung Galaxy Tab

Jungwon brought his Samsung Galaxy Tab, “since it’s a long trip,” JINS eyeglasses, Prada sunglasses, and Prada wallet with him to the U.S. He also shares his FEEL NAP Paddle Brush, which is made with heat-resistant nylon and high-grade boar bristle.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to your hotel room in a new city?

Jungwon: I always check all the lights. I see what lights there are, and try switching them all off. Sometimes there are rooms where the remote for the lights doesn’t work and one time, I slept with the lights on. After that instance, I always check.

    Ni-ki: Oh, me too.

Sunoo: I usually draw my curtains.

What’s something in your bag that fans might find surprising?

Jungwon: I have a boar bristle brush. It works really well and is good for your hair. You should try it. Our hair team recommended it to me. It’s really good. I also brought a lot of electronics on this trip, like my Tab and my second phone for going live.

    HEESEUNG

    HEESEUNG’s picks

    Prada Moisturizing Lip Balm

Heeseung looks through his new Prada bag saying to himself “real things I use…” before revealing sunglasses, a lens cleaning cloth from Chrome Hearts, Prada lip balm, and a Tamburins Egg Perfume in the scent Chamo.

What’s your favorite “Walk The Line” tour memory from the U.S. stops?

Heeseung: This is a bit of a personal one, but in Houston, I went to the Houston Rockets’ court. The representative there, he also helps with training for the NBA, and a member of our security also worked with the NBA and has played with Kevin Durant, so playing basketball with them was really memorable.

    Are you good at basketball?

Heeseung: (Laughs) I did really well this time.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to your hotel room in a new city?

Heeseung: I turn off the air conditioner first. When we go to really hot countries, the room is set really cold. So I like to leave it off.

    JAY

    JAY’s picks

    Plackers Micro Mint Dental Flossers

Jay brings his large Prada duffel bag and rummages through to take out three items he brought on this tour. The first item he pulls out is a bag of floss– “I use these every day. It’s a real must-have item.” He also shares his French language book. When asked if he’s planning on speaking French at their first-ever Paris show, he answers “I’m trying to. I’ve only had 6-7 lessons so far, so I’ve been studying on this tour.” He then takes out a tin case filled with guitar picks, a less surprising item considering his love for guitar and his guitar solo for “Blessed-Cursed” as part of this current tour.

What are you looking forward to with the European leg of this tour?

Jay: When I go to a city for the first time, I want to try local places and experience that. With this Europe tour– I’ve been to London, but I’m excited to see how the fans enjoy our shows in new cities, and how they’re different from other cities.

What are some items you’ll see in a crowd that make you recognize them as your fan?

Jay: Corn. Fans will bring corn dolls, corn helmets. There were some fans who came in corn costumes.

Sunghoon: A lot of them also wear those shirts, the ones that say “If You Say.” We wore similar ones before.

Heeseung: My hair color before this was red, I saw some people with red hair. Sometimes we see them come in hair colors we’ve had.

    JAKE

    JAKE’S picks

    Samsung Galaxy Buds 3

Jake comes in with a black cross body bag from Guidi that he bought in Japan. He laughs as all the items he brings are from brands he has a relationship with: “Samsung, Prada, and Tiffany.” He calls out how he’ll notice that during send-off at shows, “the fan’s outfits, or the necklaces they’re wearing– they’ll wear ones we’ve worn.”

You’ve had so many tours and are always traveling, are there any tips you can share from your experiences?

Jake: I don’t know if everyone can relate to this, but because we move cities a lot, we’re in situations where we have to pack up and put out our carry-on first. So the night before, I prepare my outfit from my hat down to my socks and put it on the bed. It reminds me of when I was in school. (Smiles)

Which member do you think is the best at packing, and which member tends to leave things behind?

Jake: I think we’re all good at packing at this point. One thing I regret on this tour though is that I should have brought a pillow. Pillows are so important and because they’re so different for each hotel it was a bit uncomfortable.

Jay: I think aside from Sunoo we all pack well. He only brought short sleeves on this trip. (Laughs)

Jungwon: I think Heeseung also forgets things often… His pants. (Laughs)

Heeseung: I wasn’t planning on bringing that up. (Smiles) But I was so tired. We had to take out our clothes for the next day but I packed my pants so I had to borrow from our team.

Sunghoon: Do you still have them?

Heeseung: No, I gave it back of course! I almost had to go to the airport without pants.

    SUNGHOON

    SUNGHOON’s picks

Clif Builders Protein Bars – Chocolate Peanut Butter

Sunghoon is intentional as he thinks of which of his items to share. “Things that represent me… A hat. Glasses? What else is there… Perfume is too obvious. Oh a protein bar!” He says as he takes out his things one by one. When asked about his favorite protein bars, he shares that he doesn’t really have one. “I eat anything. But this was one of the ones our staff set up in our green room yesterday at the venue so I took some with me,” he explains.

What are some of your favorite memories from this U.S. tour?

Sunghoon: I feel like I have a personal connection with BMO Stadium. (Laughs) Because Son Heung-min now plays here. We requested uniforms too, so I think it was a good memory.

Right, you did his celebration pose to the camera at the show. And you’ve been doing the aura farming meme this tour too.

Sunghoon: (Laughs) I did it once, and our Engenes keep bringing signs asking me to do it. So I keep doing it.

    Jay: It became a trademark.

Sunghoon: The signs they bring to our shows are always asking for either aura farming or for me to flex. Every photo they bring of me is in a flexing pose. (Laughs)

    SUNOO

    SUNOO’s picks

Narciso Rodriguez “For Him Bleu Noir”

Sunoo comes in with a Prada backpack with colorful keychains and accessories, “I’ve been collecting the key rings that I’ve received.” Among the keychains there’s Butterbear, a Shion keychain from the “Dark Moon” webtoon series, and a few of the characters from “Hechi and Soul Friends,” mascots for Seoul city, as Enhypen were recently appointed as official cultural ambassadors.

What’s something that’s part of your pre-show or post-show routine on tour?

Sunoo: Recently, I’ve been getting sports massages. Doing vocal warm ups… I don’t think there’s anything out of the ordinary.

What are some items that you have that are unique to you?

Sunoo: I have perfume and my wallet… Oh, I have this Shin-chan pouch. I carry my vitamins in it. I also have a book, Let’s Meet in Our Paradise. I’ve been enjoying reading it.

    NI-KI

    Kristine Kwak

What’s something that’s become part of your routine as you tour?

Ni-ki: Before and after a show, I like to monitor the fans’ reactions. They get posted immediately, so I often check to see if I did well. There’s been a lot of content from our sound checks– seeing if our fans like our normal outfits, because they’re so different from our stage costumes. I think we have fun and it’s more relaxed during sound check and they really like that.

What are some items you’ll see in a crowd that make you recognize them as your fan?

Ni-ki: Something I’ve seen a lot recently was– I customized my mic with a design that says “one of one.” I see fans bringing signs that say that, or they’ll decorate their light sticks with the same print.
