Emanli Ellis, who was inside a Beverly Hills medical building in 2018, claimed that the rapper Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, physically attacked her. The lawsuit was filed in 2020. Here’s exactly what happened between them.
The security guard’s allegation that Cardi B attacked her with her fingernails
Emani Ellis, the security guard went on to claim that Cardi B assaulted and left emotionally distressed in the lawsuit filed in 2020. She shared that Cardi B physically attacked her and cut her face with her three-inch nail, and then spit on her, leaving her deeply traumatised.
Ellis was a security guard for the building of the obstetrician’s office in those days. She testified that the confrontation occurred after Cardi B, who was pregnant with her first child, stepped out of an elevator on the fifth floor. She looked happy seeing the rapper and said, “Wow, that’s Cardi B.” However, this left Cardi B extremely shocked as she has not yet revealed her pregnancy to the world.

Not only this, Cardi B reportedly got to her face and accused the security guard of using the phone she was holding to share the news about her medical visit to media outlets. Recalling Cardi B’s words, Ellis shared:
“After she heard me say her name, she turned back around, and the first thing out her mouth was, excuse my language, ‘Why the f— are you telling people that you seen me?'”
Ellis further shared that the rapper not only abused her but also body-shamed her and than went on to spat. on her. She even threatened to get her fired. Ellis claimed that it was a traumatising moment, and she had to undergo some plastic surgery to fix the cut on her face. She went on to claim that the rapper’s nails were two to three inches long back then.
Cardi B’s attorney had different story to tell
Later, during a cross examination, Cardi B’s attorney, Peter J Anderson went on to grill Ellis over her inconsistent remarks from the complaint to the incident reported when she told her supervisor, including the exact location where she had a cut on her face. Anderson claimed that Ellis was the aggressor and screaming happened between Cardi B and Ellis. However, Cardi B never touched the security guard. According to Anderson, Cardi B feared for her unborn child as it was her first pregnancy and a huge woman was charging towards her. Due to which she was left confused that a security guard could be an attacker. He said:
“This is her first pregnancy, and a very large woman was advancing towards her. She was utterly confused that a security guard could be her attacker.”
Cardi B’s comment on the matter
Cardi B testified that she never laid a nail on Ellis. However, she admitted that there were some verbal altercations between them. Cardi B shared what happened with the jury of six women and six men through her memory of the incident inside the Beverly Hills medical building on February 24, 2018. Cardi B shared that she saw Ellis immediately after the elevator door opened. She claimed that Ellis had a phone and it seemed like she was recording her. She said:
“I asked her, ‘Yo, why are you recording me?’ I’m like, ‘Why are you recording me? Aren’t you security?’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, my bad.’ But then I’m walking, and I feel her still following me. So as I’m speed walking trying to look for the office, I turn around again, and I’m like, ‘Why are you following me?’”
