Amazon MGM Studios India’s Nishaanchi is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films of the year, with audiences eagerly waiting for its grand theatrical release on September 19. Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his gritty storytelling and cult hits, the film promises an intense mix of action, drama, and romance.
Anurag Kashyap reveals the hilarious story behind Nishaanchi’s title: “Initially the title was Babloo Nishaanchi…”
A fresh pairing of Aaishvary Thackeray and Vedika Pinto takes centre stage, with Aaishvary playing a powerful double role as twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo. The story explores Babloo’s passionate love for Rinku, played by Vedika, which turns chaotic with Dabloo’s entry, igniting conflict, tension, and drama. Supporting cast members include Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra, adding further depth to the narrative.
While the teaser has already generated excitement, the film’s title itself has become a talking point. Speaking about it, Anurag Kashyap revealed, “Initially, the title was Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangilee Rinku, and Dabloo — everyone said it was too long. The story of how Nishaanchi was coined and the film was finally named.”
The initial title reflected the central characters’ names, with Babloo and Dabloo representing Aaishvary’s twin roles, and Rinku signifying Vedika’s character. Kashyap’s anecdote highlights the creative journey behind naming the film, blending humor with insight into his filmmaking process.
Anurag also shared that working on Nishaanchi felt like a return to his original storytelling roots, rekindling the raw essence of his signature filmmaking style. The film has been backed by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under the Jar Pictures banner, in association with Flip Films, and penned by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Kashyap himself.
With its combination of action, betrayal, brotherhood, and romance, Nishaanchi is poised to deliver an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience, cementing Anurag Kashyap’s reputation for gripping, high-voltage storytelling.
