Amal Clooney arrived at the 2025 edition of the Venice Film Festival alongside husband George Clooney on Tuesday, wearing a butter yellow, sleeveless midi dress courtesy of Balmain.
The international human rights lawyer’s dress is from the French luxury fashion house’s resort 2026 collection, which debuted as part of Paris Resort Week in June. The sleeveless dress featured the label’s signature gold buckle at the waist and included such design elements as subtle exposed seams and a constructed neckline.

Clooney’s dress featured a form-fitting silhouette with a V-neckline and belted waist for added definition. The skirt of the midi dress included a pencil skirt-like quality, with parallel lines and seams adding a geometric element to the feminine piece. Clooney accessorized the look with the white Ebene handbag, which complemented her white, pointed-toe, slingback heels.
The Balmain dress also incorporated the butter yellow trend, seen on several red carpets throughout the last few years and styled by such high-profile figures as Timothée Chalamet in Givenchy at the 2025 Oscars and Aubrey Plaza in Loewe at the Emmy Awards in January 2024.

Clooney’s dress and other pieces from Balmain’s resort 2026 collection were curated by creative director Olivier Rousteing, highlighting looser fits, graphic shapes and knitwear throughout.
“The women’s collection pinged between short and snug silhouettes, including a bevy of square-shouldered bolero jackets and perky miniskirts, alongside voluptuously scaled wool coats with exaggerated peak lapels, and full-legged trousers,” Miles Socha wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

“The designer plucked details from the archive of Pierre Balmain, homing in on the ’60s this season, but kept his focus on wardrobe builders, knowing customers are spending carefully these days,” Socha wrote.
The 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday and concludes on Sept. 6. Highly anticipated films, including Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” “Jay Kelly,” starring George Clooney and Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt,” will premiere.
