Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, has been charged with four felonies after allegedly confronting police officers while walking naked on a Los Angeles street last week.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the 26-year-old artist faces three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He was initially booked on Friday for misdemeanor obstruction before the case was escalated to felony charges.
Authorities said officers encountered Lil Nas X walking unclothed along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday. When approached, he reportedly charged at the officers, leading to his arrest. Suspecting a possible overdose, police first admitted him to a hospital for several hours before transferring him to jail, where he remains in custody.
The rapper is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday. His representatives have so far declined to comment on the case. TMZ was the first to report on the charges.
Lil Nas X rose to fame with his 2018 hit “Old Town Road,” a track that fused country and hip-hop and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a record 19 weeks. His debut studio album “Montero” (2021) peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts and earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Known for pushing musical boundaries, the Atlanta-born artist remains one of the most talked-about names in contemporary music.
