Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently made headlines after reports surfaced that the star’s wife filed for a divorce from her actor husband. According to multiple reports, Sunita filed for divorce, levelling serious allegations against the actor. And since then, social media has been buzzing with the couple’s divorce news.
Govinda’s lawyer clears the air about his divorce from Sunita
Now, Govinda’s lawyer opened up about the same and revealed the truth behind the actor’s divorce and the reports of Sunita’s allegations. As per a report by NDTV, Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindra, reacted to the speculations and said:
“Koi case nahi sab settle ho raha hai ye sab log purani cheezen utha ke daal rahe hain.”
Why did Govinda and Sunita’s divorce resurface in the media?
As per a recent report by Hauterrfly, Sunita Ahuja filed for divorce from Govinda back in December 2024 in the Bandra family court. She moved the case under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds.
Govinda was reportedly called by the court on May 25, 2025, and since June 2025, the couple has been undergoing court-mandated counselling. The same report also revealed that while Sunita Ahuja has been constantly attending the court hearings, Govinda has been missing them.
Sunita removed her husband, Govinda’s surname from her IG
As the divorce buzz was leading the headlines, Sunita dropped her husband, Govinda’s, surname from her IG handle, leaving people confused. Later, she shared why she changed her name and dropped the surname. Talking to TOI, Sunita revealed the reason for the same was her numerological beliefs, and nothing much.

For the unversed, in an interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita revealed that she and her kids live in a separate flat while Govinda stays in his bungalow. She also stated that they have been living separately. However, later, Sunita denied it and stated that it was fun and no one could separate them.
In the same interview, Sunita was questioned about Govinda’s affair buzz making rounds back then. She stated that earlier, she would not have been affected, but she is worried now. Sunita stated that he was working back then, so he didn’t have any time. She said:
“Mereko fark hi nahi padta tha pehle. Mujhe sixty ke baad darr lag raha hai. Pehle yeh karta bhi nai tha aise, kaam itna karta tha, affair kab karega. Lekin ab darr lag raha hai, ki kahi kuch kar na le.”
