In a recent candid conversation with Humans of Bombay, actor Boman Irani offered a warm and humorous glimpse into working with Shah Rukh Khan, lauding his generosity and humility—while gently poking fun at his culinary simplicity.
Boman Irani playfully critiques Shah Rukh Khan’s no-frills food habits; says, “He only eats tandoori chicken and nothing else”
Boman began by praising SRK’s on-set warmth: “Shah Rukh enjoys being on a set. He enjoys being with people. He enjoys the collective nature of creating a movie. For me, there is really a naughty side to him. He is very giving. He is very big-hearted. His suite door will always be open. There will be all the snacks on one side. People walk in and walk out, pick up snacks. He plays games with them when he has the time. The set is always fun.”
The two veterans have shared memorable screen chemistry in several films, including Main Hoon Na, Don: The Chase Begins Again, Don 2, Happy New Year, Dilwale, and most recently Dunki. Their off-screen bond adds depth to their on-screen collaborations.
Yet, even amidst all praise, Boman couldn’t resist commenting on SRK’s eating habits. He candidly revealed his one minor gripe. He stated, “He is extremely boring when it comes to food. He only eats tandoori chicken and nothing else. He is not a restaurant kind of guy. The food is lying over there, he is talking, and it is getting cold, and everybody is enjoying a lovely meal par Shah Rukh ko koi farq nahi padta. I do have a problem there. He doesn’t give me a company when it comes to food.”
This amusing anecdote underscores a side of the superstar not often seen—his remarkable discipline and lack of fuss. Indeed, as ET reports, Shah Rukh’s lean physique at 59 is partly down to this minimalist diet.
On the work front, Boman Irani featured in ZEE5’s 2025 mystery-comedy Detective Sherdil, portraying Pankaj Bhatti in a stylish whodunit set in Budapest, where Diljit Dosanjh took on the role of a quirky detective investigating a billionaire’s murder.
He was also seen in Tanvi: The Great, Anupam Kher’s emotionally charged film that was screened at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Moreover, Boman has confirmed his comeback in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, the much-anticipated sequel set to go on floors in November 2025, where he will reprise his iconic role as Khurana.
