Venus Williams stepped up her game with a new tennis kit for the Stars of the Open exhibition match ahead of the 2025 U.S. Open on Thursday, where she competed alongside John McEnroe against Coco Gauff and Andre Agassi.
For the exhibition match, Williams opted for a coordinated monochrome tennis kit. Featuring feminine touches, the kit included an oversized, billowing jacket with ruffles on the seams and a silver zipper at the front. A popped collar gave the seven-time Grand Slam champion’s look added edge.

Williams’ tennis skirt featured a quintessential design, including pleating throughout. As for her footwear, Williams opted for sneakers from Lacoste, a brand for which the venerated athlete’s served as an ambassador since 2022. Williams also wore a black visor to complete her on-court look.
Prior to Thursday’s Stars of the Open exhibition match, Williams made her return to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Tuesday for the tournament’s mixed doubles competition, wearing another custom tennis kit. The navy and white trim tennis dress was designed by Khaite and included a coordinated visor.

Williams will play in the first round of the women’s singles competition beginning Sunday. The 45-year-old athlete’s return to the court coincides with Williams’ new Barbie Inspiring Women doll, which debuted on Aug. 15.
“It’s incredibly special to be recognized as a Barbie Inspiring Women doll,” Williams told WWD in a statement. “Throughout my career, I’ve worked hard to break barriers and create opportunities for those who have come after me.” The Barbie doll is inspired by Williams’ 2007 victory at The Championships, Wimbledon, when Williams became the first woman in tennis to earn equal prize money at a grand slam tournament.
