Here are all the songs we hope to hear from the K-pop star on his first global trek in eight years.
G-DRAGON
GALAXY CORPORATION
Much has changed in the world — and for G-Dragon himself — since the last time the K-pop king embarked on an international trek.
After his 2017 Act III: M.O.T.T.E World Tour played 26 shows around the world in Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania, G-Dragon completed his mandatory military service, exited his longtime label home of YG Entertainment, signed new deals with his Galaxy Corporation agency and EMPIRE distribution, dropped multiple lines of his PEACEMINUSONE Air Force 1 shoes with Nike, began teaching as a visiting professor at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, launched the JusPeace Foundation to combat drug addiction and support artists and other milestones. But with his February comeback album Ubermench, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard‘s World Albums and No. 10 on Top Album Sales charts, it is now finally time for G-Dragon to return to the stage after eight years away for another globe-trotting adventure.
As previously announced in June, G-Dragon unveiled the “Phase 3” dates for his Ubermench World Tour that expanded the outing to the United States and Europe. GD told Billboard at the time that the show was “about connecting with all of you through music.”
With music as the connection point, and nearly 20 years’ worth in G-Dragon’s packed discography, this grand return to the stage requires a setlist that honors his legacy while also recognizing his latest inspirations. So, before he plays his first shows stateside, here is Billboard‘s dream setlist for the upcoming Ubermench World Tour, which will hopefully include most, if not all, of these global chart hits.
-
“POWER”
Image Credit: Galaxy Corporation Would there be any other way for G-Dragon to kick off his first tour in years than with his declarative comeback track? He reintroduces himself with lines such as “Hi, hey, how you doin’? My-my name is/ G to the D or ‘GOAT’ the livin’ legend/ King is still poppin’…/’He’s forever royal.’”
Indeed, “POWER” reasserts that he is “forever royal” and sets the tone for the K-pop king’s grand return to America.
-
“GYRO-DROP”
New G-Dragon song “GYRO-DROP” makes perfect sense as the follow-up track to the declarative “POWER” as another carefree anthemic track released on 2025’s Ubermench.
We can imagine the words to the sing-along chorus plastered across the screen in big bold letters to encourage the audience to shout along: “Ride me like a carousel, spin me like a ferris wheel/ The way you f–k me, baby, it ain’t fair,” allowing viewers to release all their pent up energy from waiting for GD’s return to the stage.
-
“INTRO (Middle Fingers-Up)”
Now that the crowd is officially warmed up, it’s time to get into a slightly deeper cut with 2017’s KWON JI YOUNG “INTRO (Middle Fingers-Up)” that keeps the hyped-up, rascally vibes going from the first two cuts.
-
“IBELONGIIU”
At this point, we imagine G-Dragon would have greeted the audience properly and shared his gratitude for returning with a world tour after so many years away. Following up with a sentimental, sing-along track such as “IBELONGIIU” will get hearts fluttering, but also double as a message to the special relationship between artist and fan: “You and me alone in the dark/ Forever, I’ll stay with you/ Nothing’s gonna tear us apart/ Since the first time we met, I knew (that I belong to you).”
-
“Niliria”
Image Credit: Courtesy of CJ E&M “Nilira” would be the perfect track to kick the energy back up once again for a song rarely performed live, but remains an ahead-of-its-time K-pop/hip-hop track thanks to its Missy Elliott feature.
Released with both a G-Dragon solo version, but originally unveiled live at KCON 2013 with Missy, “Niliria” dropped when the Virginia MC was still rarely in the spotlight and on a break from releasing music. If Missy popped up to perform with G-Dragon at one of his U.S. shows at one of the big arena shows such as Newark, N.J., Los Angeles or Las Vegas, it would be a testament to the two music icons’ lasting legacy today.
-
“The Leaders”/”Dirty Vibe”
These are two of G-Dragon’s most powerful posse cuts. Mixing “The Leaders” (a 2009 track with GD, CL and Teddy) with “Dirty Vibe” (his collab with Skrillex, Diplo and CL) will highlight some of the star’s most memorable lines and biggest braggadocio moments on one mash-up.
-
“Bullshit” (New Version)
While “Bullshit” was set to be the lead single to 2017’s KWON JI YOUNG album before being swapped, the track remains an absolute firecracker and deserves to get the glory of GD’s other singles.
In his May performance at Head in the Clouds, G-Dragon mixed elements of Kendrick Lamar’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Not Like Us” and BIGBANG’s 2015 hip-hop single “Zutter” into a new version of the track. While some scratched their heads at the K.Dot interpolation, GD could polish this performance to pay tribute to rap legends he’s been inspired by and looks up to, such as Wu-Tang Clan, Pharrell Williams, Fabulous and Jinusean. The song’s lyrics even mention Roo’ra (a ’90s Korean hip-hop crew that an adolescent G-Dragon spent time as a member of a tribute band known Little Roo’ra), references the hook of “Dre Day” (Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s top 10 hit from 1992), while the “Zutter” sample can let him shout out his fellow BIGBANG rapper T.O.P.
-
“Go”
G-Dragon’s third major tour and most recent global trek, 2017’s Act III: M.O.T.T.E World Tour, broke up the show into three distinct acts with clear moods and themes throughout each section. To do it bigger and better than last year, the Ubermensch World Tour will have to have four acts with this energetic, hyped-up section best closed with “Go,” which peaked at No. 9 on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart in 2013.
The track’s chaotic instrumental outro already lasts more than 30 seconds and can be extended to keep the party going while G-Dragon heads backstage to change outfits and prepare himself for the show’s next act.
-
“Who You?”
With its playful piano intro and familiar “Baby, I love you” opening, “Who You?” kicking off the next act of the Ubermench show marks a less of a turn-up tune and makes way for more sentimental songs to join the setlist.
-
“BONAMANA”
Image Credit: GALAXY CORPORATION One of the slower and more serious tracks from Ubermench, “BONAMANA” allows G-Dragon to slow things down for a bit and lean into his sentimental storytelling side.
-
“That XX”
An early breakout hit in G-Dragon’s solo career, “That XX” remains an acoustic-pop single that has a big enough sound to fill entire arenas.
-
“Black”
Another U.S. fan-favorite cut, “Black” bowed at No. 10 on the World Digital Song Sales chart when it dropped in 2013 and is another low-key, swaying cut with an English chorus sung by Sky Ferreira that’s easy for fans to sing too.
-
“Without You”
A deep cut that’s rarely been performed for years, “Without You” is the perfect track to pick the energy back up with its somber piano opening that transforms into a rocking, lovelorn anthem. The fact that BLACKPINK’s Rosé also features on the 2012 song (released years before BLACKPINK’s debut) doubles as a nice reminder of G-Dragon’s legacy in lifting and collaborating with juniors.
-
“Crooked”
With the energy officially back up, this is the perfect time for the pop-punk rager “Crooked” to let the crowd wild out for one of his rowdiest tracks. If G-Dragon opts to have a full backing band with him in the states, this song could be the perfect moment for the instrumentalists to have fun and freestyle over the rocking production for the crowd while GD goes backstage to prepare for his next act.
-
“Heartbreaker”/”Shake the World”
The next act starts with a real throwback to G-Dragon’s first-ever solo album, Heartbreaker, and its accompanying lead single title track. With a now-nostalgic early ’00s Euro-pop sound, “Heartbreaker” can transport fans all the way back to 2009 and take a moment to appreciate how far the star has come in his time.
In past performances of “Heartbreaker,” G-Dragon has mixed in elements of the 2013 track “Shake the World” into this debut track. We think an official mix of these two tracks will not only honor his debut solo single, but also give a shout-out to a song U.S. fans love — “Shake the World” peaked at No. 11 on World Digital Song Sales upon release.
-
“One of a Kind”
Jumping right over to his sophomore record, One of a Kind established G-Dragon as an artistic force both with his BIGBANG band and as a soloist. If some fans weren’t around for the “Heartbreaker” years in 2009, “One of a Kind” is another nostalgic treat for many K-pop fans with its fall 2012 release as PSY’s “Gangnam Style” craze brought more eyes to Korean musicians than ever before.
-
“TAKE ME”
Keeping up with the nostalgic vibes, the laidback soul-pop sound of “TAKE ME,” from G-Dragon’s latest Ubermensch record, can offer a moment of relief from the one-two banger punch of “Heartbreaker” and “One of a Kind” while still keeping the energy high.
-
“Too Bad” With Anderson .Paak
Image Credit: GALAXY CORPORATION Another feel-good, vintage-tinged cut, a performance of “TOO BAD” could only be upgraded if featured artist Anderson .Paak made his way out for a surprise appearance at this point. .Paak has close proximity to the K-pop scene, not only having Korean heritage himself, but recently performing with the likes of J.Y. Park and BTS. The U.S. dates of the Ubermensch World Tour feel like our best chance to finally see these two hit the stage together.
-
“R.O.D.” (New Version)
Another favorite off 2013’s Coup d’Etat, peaking at No. 4 on World Digital Song Sales, “R.O.D” can close off this throwback section with a new mix that honors its Caribbean inspirations, but maybe replaces the dubstep production with something a little easier on the ears.
-
“Coup D’Etat”
As the show winds down with its fourth and final act, “Coup D’Etat” can kick off this section to make sure G-Dragon gets everything he wants to say to audiences off his chest. With the song’s intro sampling Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” G-Dragon can share what he sees as revolutionary today, whether or not it’s being televised or on our screens, through his well-noted use of artistic and symbolic imagery in his visuals.
-
“DRAMA”
Image Credit: Courtesy of Galaxy Corporation The vibe-y, trap-y Diplo and Baauer production of “Coup D’Etat” sets the mood for one of Ubermench‘s best but most gut-wrenching cuts in “DRAMA.” Getting G-Dragon in this serious moment allows for another chance for self-reflection and could put him in a place to share more of his feelings about coming back to music after so much change.
And if a Diane Warren composition can’t get that out of GD, we’re not sure what can.
-
BIGBANG Medley (“Good Boy”/”Fantastic Baby”/”Bang Bang Bang”)
While G-Dragon tends to keep his solo and BIGBANG material separate on tour, we think there would be a huge missed opportunity if he gave no love to his boy band discography. With BIGBANG’s last U.S. concert in 2015, GD could slowly rework the classics back into his setlist by embracing the slow-growing intro of “Good Boy” before the beat drops and makes it easy for him to hop over to party hits such as “Fantastic Baby” and “Bang Bang Bang.”
Since these three tracks are famous for their dance-break sections, GD doesn’t have to feel awkward about singing over his bandmate’s parts but can instead ride on the good vibes and throw in the occasional “boomshakalaka.”
-
“Crayon”
But of course, this is the G-Dragon show and he would have to close out with one of his biggest bangers in “Crayon.” He could easily extend the song’s addictive “Get your cray-on” hook for extra party time with fans, which would undoubtedly be an explosive finish to quickly encourage the crowd to scream for more with an encore.
-
Encore: “Can’t Help Falling in Love”
It’s a little-known fact that G-Dragon recorded a cover of the 1960s classic for the soundtrack to the 2022 Austin Butler-starring Elvis film, with the album also featuring music heavyweights Stevie Nicks, Eminem, Mark Ronson, Doja Cat, Diplo, Kasey Musgraves and more. He’s never performed the track live, but coming back on stage led by the touching song will instantly set the mood for a more intimate and casual encore — and undoubtedly get arenas singing along with him.
-
Encore: “Untitled, 2024”
Keeping up the sentimental vibes set from “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” it’s time to jump into this emotional ballad single. If GD hasn’t brought out a piano on stage yet, this could be a perfect moment for him to accompany himself and sing for fans, marking a truly stripped-down and raw moment between artist and audience.
-
Encore: “Home Sweet Home”
Image Credit: GALAXY CORPORATION But, ultimately, you want to leave a concert energized and screaming your lungs out, right? That’s why the final track of the night has to be “Home Sweet Home,” the mini BIGBANG reunion track that features Taeyang and Daesung, which also entered both Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Hot Dance/Pop Songs. The song not only is the perfect throbber of a track to close a show, but also doubles as a message to G-Dragon’s lasting legacy in the industry and returning to the stage: “I’m feelin’ like I never left/That’s right, I never left…/ Well, I said I would be back/ And I’d never let you go.”
Indeed, G-Dragon back on stage and surrounded by thousands of his supporters does feel like “home sweet home.”
