Rumours about Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Ssunita Ahuja’s divorce have been circulating for months. Time and again, Ssunita has talked about the same and dismissed the buzz, but it kept getting ignited again and again. A few days ago, Ssunita dropped her husband’s surname from her IG handle, while adding an extra ‘S’ to her name, and as the incident happened during her divorce, it again re-ignited the speculations around. Now, another report claimed that Ssunita actually filed for divorce and labelled some serious allegations against the actor.

As per a recent report by Hauterrfly, Ssunita Ahuja filed for divorce from Govinda back in December 2024 in the Bandra family court, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. If the reports are to be believed, Govinda was called by the court on May 25, 2025, and since June 2025, the couple has been trying to mend things between them. The same report also revealed that while Ssunita Ahuja has been constantly attending the court hearings, Govinda has been missing them. He also reportedly skipped the court-mandated counselling session, as reported.

Ssunita Ahuja recently ventured into the world of YouTube and created a channel. In one of the videos, Ssunita was seen talking about her faith in the almighty, as she shared that she always prayed for her marriage to Govinda and a good life with him. Revealing that the almighty always listened to her, she stated that along with her marriage to Govinda, she was also blessed with two wonderful children. Ssunita was seen breaking down in tears after that, as she said that the people who tried to break up her family would not be spared. Mentioning that she doesn’t trust anybody, Ssunita said:
“Koi bhi mera ghar todne ki koshish kare…jo bhi mera dil dukhayega, yeh Maa Kali sabke gale kaat k rakh degi. Ek acche insaan ko, acchi aurat ko dukh dena acchi baat nahi hai. Mujhe aur kisipe vishwas nahi hai.”

Earlier, amid the divorce buzz was going on, Ssunita Ahuja left everyone surprised as she dropped her husband’s surname from her IG handle. She also added an extra ‘S’ to her first name, and people started wondering if the buzz about the couple’s divorce was actually true. Later, Ssunita shared why she changed her name and dropped the surname. Talking to TOI, Ssunita revealed the reason for the same was her numerological beliefs, and nothing much.
Sunita, in the same interview, said that she is and will always be an ‘Ahuja’, and it will be her last day in the world when she leaves it. She further stated that she hadn’t dropped her surname in actuality, and it was just for IG that she depended on the numerology. The divorce buzz between the couple began as Ssunita, in an interview, talked about living separately from Govinda. Later, the buzz intensified as her lawyer stated that she had filed a notice six months back. Moreover, when speculations were rife that the extramarital affair of the actor could be the reason for Ssunita’s decision to part ways from him, she repeatedly dismissed the same, mentioning that if anything like this were to happen, she would reveal the same first.
