When the sky darkens over the U.S. Open tennis courts this year, Asics players will be ready.
The athletic brand showcased its Night Energy collection designed for night matches at its Asics House of Tennis event in New York City on Thursday, welcoming Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz and more athletes ahead of the U.S. Open main draw.
“All black attire today, black shoes, it feels good,” Djokovic said at the event. “Being in the most exciting and vibrant city in the world is always fun.”

The 24-time Grand Slam winner continued to speak on the influence of New York City.
“This city has so much energy that if you manage to kind of tap into that, it kind of drives you and it really gives you the necessary support, I guess when you start the competition,” he said. “I’m going to need that, I need that extra push and I’m trying to get that this week.”
And there’s a special energy when it comes to night sessions at Arthur Ashe Stadium, he emphasized. “Night session at Arthur Ashe is probably the most famous night session we have in tennis overall. People spend their day having fun, drinking, and it’s very loud at night, but it’s very electric as well. There’s nothing like it, it’s the best night session you can have.”

Djokovic designed the black and prism gold Court FF Novak Night Energy sneaker, a style offering enhanced speed and stability, in collaboration with Asics. The Night Energy collection encompasses two more footwear options, including the Gel-Resolution X Night Energy, designed for baseline players, and the Solution Speed FF 3 Night Energy, designed for all-court players, both in a black and prism blue colorway. In addition to shoes, the Match Capsule Collection offers apparel for men and women, showcasing an all-black color scheme with iridescent details.
The Night Energy collection, available now, will be showcased at the U.S. Open by Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti, Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Nishesh Basavareddy, Jasmine Paolini, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Belinda Bencic, Eva Lys and Caroline Dolehide, with Djokovic and Fritz only donning the footwear.

Djokovic emphasized that he does like to switch up his looks for day versus night sessions — especially for the big New York competition.
“I’ve tried to do that most of my career, have a day and night session kit. I think most of the players, particularly here at U.S. Open, because of the fact that it is the most famous night session in the sport — you want to make a statement, you want to go out and New York, obviously fashion week is coming up right after the U.S. Open, every year it’s been like that. So there’s a lot of fashion presence, I would say, also in the stands and people watching. Other than feeling good and playing good you also want to look good. So that’s obviously an important aspect of the overall confidence and the overall feel on the court.”

Asked what he still loves about the sport, Djokovic explained how the energy of fans motivates him.
“That adrenaline rush, the heartbeat when you walk out and you hear your name being called, and then the fans. Particularly young kids being on the stands and the court side. You see their passion and how much they really appreciate that you’re still there, and they want you to win, so it really humbles you, but at the same time, it really pushes you to perform your best.”
