In Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district, a villager dialled the Chief Minister’s Helpline to complain that he received only one laddoo instead of two during the Independence Day celebrations.
The incident took place on August 15 in Naudha village in the Machhand area where the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Gram Panchayat Bhavan was attended by the sarpanch, local representatives, the secretary, the peon, and several villagers. After the flag hoisting, the distribution of laddoos began.
Peon Dharmendra was in charge of distributing the sweets. When he reached villager Kamlesh Kushwaha, he gave him one laddoo. Kamlesh, however, insisted on two. But Dharmendra refused. Then Kamlesh immediately called the Chief Minister’s Helpline. His complaint said that “the Gram Panchayat was not distributing laddoos after the Independence Day program” and requested action.
Speaking to India Today’s sister channel Aaj Tak, Kamlesh Kushwaha said, “The Gram Panchayat Bhavan did not distribute laddoos after flag hoisting. A few people sitting inside the Panchayat Bhavan got laddoos, but those who were standing outside on the road were not given any. I only called the CM Helpline to ask whether laddoos are distributed on Independence Day, because they were not distributed. The CM Helpline has registered my complaint.”
Panchayat Secretary Ravindra Srivastava confirmed the sequence of events. He said, “On August 15, Kamlesh was standing outside the Panchayat Bhavan on the road. Peon Dharmendra distributed laddoos and gave him one. He wanted two laddoos, but Dharmendra refused. That is why he complained on the CM Helpline.”
Srivastava further said Kamlesh is in the habit of making frequent complaints. “He has lodged dozens of complaints in various departments through the CM Helpline,” he noted. To settle the matter, the secretary added, “I will buy 1 kg of laddoos, apologise to him, and try to pacify him.”
