Actor Akshay Kumar recently spoke about the discipline he follows with regard to his health and fitness. The actor revealed his weekly fasting ritual, which helped him stay energetic and clear-headed.
Akshay, while speaking about his weekly fast, in an interview with IANS, said, “I don’t eat at all on Mondays. My last meal is on Sunday evening, and then I stay without food until Tuesday morning.”
He further emphasised eating his evening meals early and said, “Having dinner at 6.30 is important. At night, our eyes rest, our legs rest, our hands rest—every part of the body relaxes. But if we eat late, the stomach keeps working while we sleep. By the time we wake up, it deserves a break too. Instead, we eat breakfast immediately and it has to start working again.”
“Most illnesses begin in the stomach. If you eat early, say at 6.30 pm, your food has already been digested by bedtime. By 9 or 10 pm, your stomach is resting just like the rest of your body. It’s simple, but it works,” the actor added.
Akshay also emphasised the need to avoid late nights, processed food and crash diets. The actor’s fitness regime and diet is often a part of media interactions because of his on-screen persona. He is known for performing action stunts and combat sequences in films since he has a martial arts background.
Akshay was last seen in a cameo in the Telugu epic-drama ‘Kannappa’, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The film also featured Vishnu Manchu, Kajal Aggarwal, Prabhas, Mohanlal and others in key roles.
Akshay will next be seen in director Subhash Kapoor’s comedy-drama ‘Jolly LLB 3’. The film also features Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, Annu Kapoor, Boman Irani, Seema Biswas, Sanjay Mishra and others in key roles.
‘Jolly LLB 3’ is scheduled to release on September 19, 2025.
