After wrapping its involvement in the Adidas Business Track program, landmark Detroit retailer Puffer Reds is marking the occasion with its first-ever sneaker collaboration.

Set to be released next week is the Puffer Reds x Adidas Adistar Cushion “Track 45.” Inspired by the retailer’s roots as a record store, the music-inspired collaboration uses vinyl material and features a colorway inspired by the store’s Wall of Fame.

Various Detroit references are scattered throughout the shoe, including the area codes 313 and 734 on the heel and a deviation from the color scheme with a blue “Detroit” hit on the sole representing the hometown Lions.

Adidas Business Track was launched in partnership with Detroit’s renowned Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design. 

“This collaboration honors our history and evolution while spotlighting the community that continues to inspire us. We are all about community at Puffer Reds, and are proud to have had adidas’ support from the start of our journey through now,” James Berry, e-commerce market manager at Puffer Reds, said in a press release.

Ahead of the launch, Puffer Reds is turning its store into a museum of sorts with various items that helped define the store’s history and serve as inspiration for the Adistar Cushion collaboration. In partnership with the Adidas Cornerstone Community, It will also hold a launch party at the Diamondback Music Hall with live performances from local acts.

The Puffer Reds x Adidas Adistar Cushion Track 45 will be released Aug. 28 in store and online from pufferreds.com for a retail price of $150. Pairs purchased on Aug. 28 will come with a free ticket for the Diamondback Music Hall event.
