In a piece of sad news, there has been a wave of sadness in the Nandamuri family. This is because Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s son Jayakrishna’s wife, Padmaja, on the morning of August 19, 2025, passed away at the age of 73. As per reports floating online, she was ill for a long time and was also admitted to a hospital because she was having difficulty breathing. Late Smt. Padmaja was the daughter-in-law of the legendary star and the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
Padmaja was the aunt of War 2 star, Jr NTR
For those who do not know, Padmaja was the sister of Daggubati Venkateswara Rao and also the aunt of War 2 actor, Jr NTR. Reportedly, upon learning of Padmaja’s demise, CM Chandrababu Naidu immediately left for Hyderabad and also tweeted about her demise. Padmaja was highly respected in her family and was known for her charm, dignity, and graceful nature. She was the elder daughter-in-law of NTR and Smt. Basava Rama Tarakam held a significant position in one of the most renowned political and cinematic families in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Padmaja had breathing issues
Padmaja, being the sister of Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, strengthened her bond with the influential political circles of the state. As the wife of Jayakrishna, Padmaja supported her family through cinema, public life, and politics. Reports suggested that Padmaja had been unwell for some time and was also under medical care. It was on August 18, 2025, when she was taken to the hospital, and despite getting the best medical treatment, she took her last breath in the morning of August 19, 2025. NTR’s second son was Jayakrishna, and Padmaja, his wife, was known by the family members to be someone who had a soft demeanour and a remarkable resilience. She was known to stand by her loved ones for years and helped them overcome varied challenges since the past decades.
Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reacts to the demise of Nandamuri Padmaja
Padmaja, who was the wife of the late former CM, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s son Jayakrishna, was not keeping well for some time. There have been many celebrities, politicians and fans of Nandamuri who have expressed grief over the passing away of Padmaja. Now the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, reacted to Padmaja’s demise and revealed being shocked to learn of her passing away. The CM tweeted:
“The wife of my brother-in-law Nandamuri Jayakrishna and the sister of Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. This incident has filled our family with sorrow. I pray to God that Padmaja’s soul finds peace.’
Even the Minister of Human Resources Development of Andhra Pradesh, Lokesh Nara, penned that the news of the passing of Padmaja, the wife of his uncle, Nandamuri Jayakrishna, has deeply saddened him. The sudden demise of Padmaja, who always stood as a pillar of support for her family, is a loss that cannot be repaired. The Minister prayed that Padmaja’s soul may find peace. For those who do not know, Nandamuri Chaitanya Krishna had made his debut in the movie, Dham, where he essayed the role of a hero. He is the son of Nandamuri Jayakrishna and Padmaja, and also played the role of a hero in the movie, Breathe.
