Launched in 2023, the Fronx has quickly established itself as one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India, combining style, features, and multiple powertrain options, including a turbo-petrol engine. The model not only enjoys strong domestic demand but has also emerged as a key export product for Maruti Suzuki.
The Fronx was the highest exported passenger vehicle in FY25, with one in every five units produced shipped overseas. It also holds the distinction of being the first Made-in-India SUV exported to Japan, apart from being popular in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Since launch, the SUV has notched several records. It became the fastest model in India to reach 1 lakh sales within 10 months, while the 2 lakh and 3 lakh milestones were also achieved at record pace. In February 2025, Fronx registered its highest-ever monthly sales at over 21,400 units.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx began production in March 2023 and has since achieved several rapid milestones. It crossed the 1 lakh production mark by December 2023, reached 2 lakh units in June 2024, and hit the 3 lakh milestone in November 2024. Continuing its strong momentum, the SUV rolled out its 4 lakhth unit in February 2025, before surpassing the 5 lakh production milestone in July 2025, just 28 months after production commenced.
With its strong domestic performance and growing international footprint, the Fronx has firmly established itself as a global success story in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio.
In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes equipped with LED multi-reflector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, automatic headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, a shark-fin antenna, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, it offers a 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Arkamys-tuned surround sound setup, automatic climate control, a head-up display with turn-by-turn navigation, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless charging pad.
The Fronx is available in India with two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT engine delivering 89.73bhp and 113Nm of torque, and a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet engine producing 100.06bhp and 147.6Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT with a 1.2-litre unit, while the turbo-petrol can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, the 1.2-litre engine also comes in a CNG variant, tuned to generate 77.5bhp and 98.5Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
