Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met US President Donald Trump at the White House for delegation-level talks aimed at ending the war with Russia. Accompanied by senior European leaders and EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen, Zelensky’s visit focussed on achieving a permanent peace agreement. President Trump suggested a path forward, stating, “I think if everything works out well today, we’ll have a trilat. And I think there will be a reasonable chance of ending the war when we do that.” The discussions also touched upon future security guarantees for Ukraine, with Trump confirming the US and European partners would provide protection. The meeting follows a recent discussion between President Trump and the Russian President. During the press interaction, Trump also commented on US domestic issues, including mail-in ballots and crime in Washington, D.C.
