Reebok is getting in on the 30th anniversary of “Clueless” celebrations with a footwear collection releasing Aug. 29 featuring two sneaker options inspired by the 1995 fashion-forward teen rom-com.

Through a partnership with Paramount Consumer Products, Reebok has reinterpreted the Campio Extra, a platform archive and soccer-inspired sneaker, and the Club C 85, an archival tennis-inspired sneaker, in homage to the memorable characters and outfits of the film, which was directed by Amy Heckerling and featured costume design by Mona May.

The Campio Extra, priced at $90 and offered in women’s sizing, is inspired by the famous plaid ensembles showcased by Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone, and Dionne, played by Stacey Dash. A textile upper tributes their respective skirt-and-blazer sets with contrasting yellow and black plaid sections. A pink version of Reebok’s signature side stripes stands out against the pattern.

The Club C 85, priced at $85 and offered in women’s sizing, is intended as an everyday sneaker referencing Cher, Dionne and Tai, played by Brittany Murphy. Embodying the shoe charm and personalization trend that’s taken off lately, a neutral textile upper is decorated with three customizable laces, including a yellow plaid option, and accessories, including a pink pom-pom nodding to Cher’s pen and a pearl lace-lock. Both sets of sneakers are rounded out with leopard-printed sockliners featuring “Clueless” branding and a soft gum outsole.

“‘Clueless’ is as influential today as it was in 1995,” said Carmen Hardaway, director of Reebok classics footwear, energy collaborations and social impact, in a statement. “We wanted to create a collection that honors the film’s lasting footprint on fashion and pop culture, while also giving fans something they can truly wear and love, featuring two of our most timeless silhouettes. Like ‘Clueless,’ which continues to transcend time, Reebok Classics have always had a pulse on style and cultural influence. These designs are all about confidence, fun and making a statement, just like Cher and her crew.”

With the prominence of yellow plaid, the collection is taking inspiration from the Jean Paul Gaultier set which Cher wears to school at the start of the film. Ahead of the three decade milestone, May spoke with WWD about the long-envied fashions she put together for the movie, and she detailed how the team reacted when Silverstone tried on the Gaultier look.

“We all had almost like goosebumps in the fitting room. It was so perfect. She loved it herself. She felt very uplifted in that color, in that look. And it was so classic,” May said. “The yellow worked with her blond hair, with her skin tone, and it was just the ray of sunshine that we needed for that exact scene of being in a quad, first day of school, queen bee.”

Reebok has previously leaned into the popularity of ‘90s fashion through a 2024 collaboration with Juicy Couture and a 2021 collection with Cardi B, for example.
