Kim Jong-kook is a South Korean singer, entertainer and actor. Kim made his debut as a member of the Korean duo, Turbo, in 1995. However, they parted ways in 2000. It was in 2001 when Kim released his first solo album, and recently he celebrated the 30-year milestone of his debut album, Renaissance. And to celebrate the occasion, Kim made a very special announcement about his future endeavours.
Kim Jong-kook is getting married
Kim Jong-kook is finally getting married! Yes! You heard that right, the Korean star has announced his marriage with a special post on the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Renaissance. The singer took to his official fan cafe on the morning of August 18, 2025, and shared a handwritten letter announcing the good news. Kim started the note by stating that he has been preparing to make this announcement for a long time, yet still he feels extremely nervous. He was quoted as saying:
“Hello. This is Kim Jong-kook. I have always prepared in my heart for the day when I would write and post this kind of letter, but now that I am preparing this letter, I find myself more nervous and trembling than I had imagined. I am posting this letter to let the fans who have believed in me, supported me, and always been by the side of human Kim Jong-kook know first. I’m getting married.”
Kim Jong-kook, in the same note, revealed how he had been dropping hints about it. However, he still feels many might think it is all so sudden. He shared that this year marked three decades since his debut, and while he hasn’t made the album he wanted, he has created his other half. He stated:
“Actually, I have been dropping hints little by little, but I think there will definitely be many who feel this is sudden. This year marks my 30th anniversary since debut, and I haven’t made the album I wanted, but I’ve created my other half. Please congratulate and support me. It’s a bit late, but how fortunate it is to be going this way, right? I will do my best to live well.”
Kim Jong-kook’s wedding will be an intimate affair
In the same handwritten letter, Kim Jong-kook revealed that the wedding will be a quiet and intimate affair. He added that it won’t be any grand or lavish ceremony but a small function marked by the presence of his family, relatives and friends. Kim also thanked his fans who have been with him throughout his journey and stated:
“The wedding will be held quietly with family, relatives, and a few acquaintances on a scale that isn’t too large in the near future. Thanks to the fans who have always been a great support for a long time, I am able to get married and take on a new challenge in life. I will strive to be a hardworking and diligent Kim Jong-kook. Thank you.”

Kim Jong-koop is currently appearing on his personal YouTube channel. The singer has 3.16 million followers on his account. Other than that, he is also starring in the SBS entertainment program, Running Man.
