Earlier this summer, Hailey Bieber declared the trendy butter yellow “played out,” instead favoring more vibrant lemon tones. Bella Hadid begs to disagree.
Yesterday in West Hollywood, in the throes of promoting her newest Orebella perfume, the lychee-forward Eternal Roots, the model and parfumier opted for a drapey With Jéan minidress with a double-belted drop waist and an elasticated bubble hem. (While the dress is intended to be worn as a halter, Hadid chose to wear it strapless.) She styled the look with a pair of yellow and white Roger Vivier pointy-toe slingbacks, a smattering of gold jewelry, and slim oval sunglasses.

Is it possible that the dress is also a nod to her fruity Eternal Roots? Perhaps, instead of butter, the pale yellow actually reminds Hadid of the off-white flesh of a lychee. Whether or not the color is a subtle sartorial nod, to her latest venture, the look fits right into her recent summery style, filled with flowing silhouettes from popular, more accessible brands like Mirror Palais, For Love & Lemons, Mango, and With Jéan.
Butter yellow faces challengers for the color du jour—Hailey Bieber’s limoncello yellow and Taylor Swift’s showgirl orange among them. But if anyone can revive the pastel hue, it’s Bella Hadid.
