The YRF Spy Universe film, War 2, is recording a dismal run at the box office across the globe. Over the last 2 days, the Hindi version was proving to be a face-saver for the actioner. However, in a shocking turn of events, War 2 has seen a significant drop in collections on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a poor opening weekend total.
According to our estimates, the Hrithik and NTR Jr. film opened at Rs. 28 crores on Thursday, with a jump to Rs. 45 crores on Friday. The film crashed on Saturday to Rs. 24 crores, and saw another drop to Rs. 23 crores on Sunday. The four-day weekend of War 2 stands at a low total of Rs. 120 crores, and the film will be headed for a flop status at the box-office.
The footfalls of War 2 will not just be the lowest for the Spy Universe that started in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger, but also lower than another big-budget YRF failure, Thugs of Hindostan. The film has not performed well owing to the poor reports amongst the cinema-going audience and the subpar promotional material.
The teaser and trailer itself had dented the prospects, and the post-release content was just the final nail in the coffin.
