There has been a lot of anticipation and hype around Vishnu Manchu’s mythological epic named, Kannappa, which is all set to make its debut on OTT. The movie is set to hit the theatres on June 27, 2025 and reportedly will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video. Kannappa has been the most ambitious home production project of Vishnu Manchu. He played the role of a tribal warrior who became a Shiva devotee, and the film had a theatrical release on June 27, 2025. During the movie’s promotions, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Vishnu stated that he would not allow the film to release on OTT until the 10-week mark from the theatrical release date had been completed. However, most of the major platforms have revealed content on or before the 30-day mark.
For Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa is not just a passion project but something very dear to him. He not only played the lead role but also wrote the screenplay for the same. Under the home banner, the movie was produced with Manchu’s father, Mohan Babu, backing and guarding it. Mohan Babu has also been seen in a supporting role.

Speaking of the narrative of Kannappa, it showcases the spiritual transformation of Thinnadu, who is actually a rebellious and fierce tribal hunter. The belief system is indifferent, and Thinnadu’s life is seen to have taken a different turn as he embarks on a self-embarking journey. He discovers himself and there is devotion as well. He then becomes a follower of Shiva and the movie tries to bring the mythological tale to life with a lot of grand emotions and visual treats. The star-studded cast of Kannappa includes Akshay Kumar, who plays the role of ‘Lord Shiva’. Prabhas plays the role of ‘Rudra’, while Mohanlal essays ‘Kirata’, and Kajal Aggarwal plays the role of ‘Goddess Parvati’. The cast of Kannappa also includes Preity Mukhundhan playing the role of ‘Nemali’, along with R. Sarathkumar playing ‘Nathanathudu’ and Madhoo playing ‘Pannaga’ in pivotal roles.
