Bella Thorne sparked backlash after she proposed to her fiancé, Mark Emms — despite them already being engaged.
The Disney alum took to Instagram Saturday to share clips of herself getting down on one knee while surrounded by candles, flowers and red heart-shaped balloons.
Emms wasn’t initially aware of what Thorne was doing until he knelt to meet her at eye level.
He then widened his eyes and mouth as the actress pulled out a ring box.
The couple tenderly kissed and hugged.
“3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, Now 1 year later so did I 🥴❤️,” Thorne, 27, captioned the videos.
The “Blended” star received mixed reactions from fans in the comments, with one writing, “If he already proposed why did you do it lol I’m confused.”
“Ok ladies let’s not normalise this, okay?” another added, as a third quipped, “Girls in 2025: he said yeeesss 🥹💍.”
“I’d rather have my nails ripped off with a tenacity before I do that,” a fourth chimed in, as a critic sarcastically said they “would rather swallow glass.”
Others, however, gushed over the sweet moment, as a fan wrote, “I don’t understand why everyone’s hating. It’s cute 😭.”

Thorne, meanwhile, took to her Instagram Stories to share a response to the comments, writing, “The comments on my post are hilarious!!
“Totally split down the middle. Half of u are like let’s not normalize proposing to your partner — other half is like f–k yeah girl power this is the sweetest.”
The OnlyFans creator and Emms took their romance public in February 2023 after she broke off her engagement to Benjamin Mascolo.
