A video of a group of students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has taken the internet by storm with their energetic dance to the Bollywood hit Afghan Jalebi.

The video, posted on Instagram by Rajat Mahaur, has already crossed a million views. In the short clip, captioned “Showing your IIT Juniors that IIT isn’t only nerdy,” the students – seemingly seniors welcoming the fresh batch – deliver a performance that left their peers cheering.

The video starts with the group confidently taking centre stage to Pritam’s track from the film Phantom. Their synchronisation is tight, their energy is infectious, and the crowd of classmates and juniors hoot in full support.

“From this showcase yo dance trophy—Long run,” reads the caption of the post.

Social media has reacted with equal enthusiasm. A user said, “They deserve to be featured in Guru Randhawa’s next movie,” while another joked, “I can bet the one with glasses is the leader.”

Ye to bht cute hogya + skills,” wrote a user. Another quipped, “Nora Fatehi whooo?????” One viewer admitted their envy: “The guy who is seated and enjoying this, just know I’m so JEALOUS of you!!!”

Interestingly, one of the users pointed out that the clip is not brand new. “Only legends know how old this video is,” they wrote, to which Rajat replied, “Well true.. 1 saal.”

Old or not, the video is finding fresh love online as it shows that some things don’t lose their spark with time.

Afghan Jalebi remains one of Pritam’s most memorable compositions. Featured in Kabir Khan’s espionage drama Phantom, the 2015 release is based on S Hussain Zaidi’s novel Mumbai Avengers and revisits the events following the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The song continues to hold a strong place in Bollywood playlists even a decade later.

The IIT Delhi students may have taken the stage informally, but their spirited performance showed that campus life is much more than equations and exams.
