Tristan Rogers was an Australian actor who rose to fame for his role as ‘Robert Scorpio’ in the long-running soap opera on ABC, General Hospital. He became one of the most loved faces of the soap opera, so much so that his character in General Hospital came as a result of his involvement with the monumentally popular supercouple, ‘Luke’ and ‘Laura’. Unfortunately, after entertaining the world for over five decades, he passed away at the age of 79.
Tristan Rogers passed away
It was General Hospital Executive Producer, Frank Valentini, who announced Tristan Rogers’ death in a personal statement shared on the ABC TV series’ official Instagram page on August 15, 2025. It was only in July 2025 that Tristan’s representative confirmed to Fox News Digital that the actor had been diagnosed with cancer. Frank shared a heartfelt post for the deceased actor. He was quoted as saying:
“The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers’ passing.”
In the same note, Frank Valentini shared how Tristin won his fans’ hearts for more than five decades. He added that Port Charles won’t be the same without him. The producer further expressed his condolences to his family and friends. He was quoted as saying:
“Tristan has captivated our fans for more than 50 years, and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.”
Tristan Rogers’ rise as a General Hospital star
General Hospital star appeared in more than 1,400 episodes of the show, making Tristin Rogers a part of the daily opera for more than four decades. The Australian actor first began playing the role of ‘Robert Scorpio’ in 1980; he briefly left the series in 1992. However, the fans loved him so much that he was brought back in 1995 as a spirit, since his character was killed off in the 1992 finale. Nonetheless, the love and admiration Tristan brought to the role made the makers bring him back as a living character in 2006.

Tristan Rogers appeared in several episodes of General Hospital: Night Shift. His character last appeared on General Hospital on November 12, 2024, when ‘Robert Scorpio’ left town with his ex, ‘Holly Sutton’. Talking about the role in 2018, Tristan had once told Soap Opera Digest:
“Robert has always had kind of a glib approach to everything; he’s a bit of a smart-mouth. I’m working with a lot of different people.… And I think the fans are going to like it.”
Tristan Rogers’ other works
In addition to his role on General Hospital, Tristan Rogers also starred as ‘Colin Atkinson’ on the CBS soap opera, The Young and the Restless. He appeared in nearly 200 episodes of the show from 2010 to 2012. The actor earned a daytime Emmy in 2020 for outstanding performance by a supporting actor in a digital drama series for his work on Studio City. Rogers was then nominated the following year for The Bay.
